If someone approached you with a mysterious box with a huge red button and offered you $1,000,000 in cash if you pushed it, would you do it?

What if pushing that red button would cause someone else in the world (someone you don't know) to die, would you still push that botton?

Discuss!

There's a movie with this concept...

THE BOX TRAILER - RICHARD KELLY, CAMERON DIAZ | FilmDrunk.com: Movie News and Butter Sculpting

Id think it was some kind of scam. Why couldn't he just push the darn button himself or just drop a rock on the button?

<press red button>

Well, suppose he was really giving you $1,000,000... no scam, nothing.

I'm simply asking if you would push that red button.

The person that's going to die will be someone you don't know. It could be someone in your town or someone in another country. Who knows?

All that matters is that you're getting $1,000,000 in cash.

That would depend.

I would not do it not knowing who the person is or purpose of doing so.

Plus...One would not be able to enjoy the Million, if he is sentence for life, or put to death.

My answer is - No.

Why should $1 mil be worthy of ending a life for?

What if that mystery person is the prodigy that would save the world from economic ruin. I think the 1 mil is not worth it at all. Tempting but not worth the push.

It better be a person ive never seen before and is not related to me whatsoever. I also don't want to know who died but ill be hoping it was some felon or someone who's suicidal. The million paid to me would need to be declared as a "gift" and prepaid before I push the button. This all must be kept a secret and we can pretend it never happened. I really need the money.

Strange....but I would say "No, thanks". I have a conscience, and don't believe I could really enjoy the $$$, knowing that I had killed a person(s). And always "looking over my shoulder" wondering when I was gonna be arrested for murder....not worth it!

I couldn't do it. As much as I would love to have $1,000,000 I could never harm someone to get it I just couldn't live with myself knowing what I did and I also believe in " The Law of Return" ;)

Sentence usually stiffer on accessory of a crime than the crime itself.

Pressing that button ***COULD*** consider as an accessory to the potential crime.

That *IF* could mean nothing to the potential crime as if this red button starts thermonuclear war which would result absolutely wipe out on every spieces in this planet... At the end, that million dollars might evaporates even before I realize..

So, based on assumptions and perspective in legal stuff, and potential on being vaporized in no time....

I ain't gonna press that button. Note the period in the end of sentence.

It seems like the story of Pandora's box. I would not press the button.

Pandora's box? :fruit: Said it again. :fruit:

Sorry Nathan, are you saying your cartoon is about Pandora's box?

I can't read it. It isn't big enough for me even when clicked on.
