Hi everyone,

I'm new and I'm from Singapore. I'm in the States for a year on an exchange program. I just had a frustrating experience of trying to buy a cochlear nuclear rechargeable battery and a battery holder online but was turned away because,

"Due to FDA regulations you must be registered as a patient with a clinic in
the US or Canada for us to be able to ship items to you. Please let us know
if you have questions or concerns."

This is incredibly frustrating because I'm not a cochlear patient with any clinic in America or Canada simply because I was implanted in my home country. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do?

I've grown to really depend on my implant and it's been a nightmare since I lost my rechargable battery -and- my disposable battery holder within a week of arriving in the States.

Worth try but it's based in Europe.

A tip, If you have anyone in europe that can recieve the package then send it on to you.

Thanks for the heads up! I don't have anyone in europe who can help me though. You've given me an idea though. Maybe I should find someone in the states or california who can help me buy the battery holder online and then get them shipped to me. Might be tough since they don't know me..

You may want to call cochlear corp. I'm sure someone can figure out how you can do this and direct you possibly to a centre near you where they can confirm you have a CI that's from cochlear record serial number and order on your behalf?

I just received my re-chargeable a short time ago. if you have the Nucleus 5 I can and will send you one of my replaceable battery holders. I have two and only need one to keep as a spare. It is tan in color but doubt you are really concerned about color at this point :)

Thanks Rampratt, that was an amazing offer! This seems like light at the end of the tunnel. However, I'm using the Freedom.

Freedom Battery Holder (2-Pack) [xz60775] - $58.00 : Cochlear, Innovator of the Nucleus Freedom cochlear hearing implant system

What I'm looking to get is this, and maybe a black one but as you said, i'm not concerned about color at this point..

Would you be kind enough to purchase it online for me? I have a BOA account and I'm willing to transfer the money to you. I'm not sure how much it'll cost for you to ship it over to me but I'll pay for everything!

Before you purchase the battery holder, my daughter recently moved from Freedoms to N5s, and so we have several extra disposable battery holders from her Freedoms. I suspect you'd rather have black than pink :) , and fortunately we have both. I'm happy to send to you, just let me know your address.

Thank you GrendelQ! I'm going to PM you my address now. Let me know if I can do anything for you!

Off-topic, how is your daughter doing with the N5s? I spent a few hours wondering if it is worth the money to upgrade and whether there'll be any noticable performance boosts. My audiologist in Singapore is encouraging me to stay with my Freedom because upgrading is expensive, but sometimes, I still wonder... In any case, I'll have to wait till I'm done with college and have a job. That's two more years to go.

Nax, looks like you are all taken care of. Good luck Regards Rampratt

nax- you can't use the PM feature til you've reached 100 posts so you'll have to post your email for grendelq ..post it like a word not like an address like johnsmith at hotmail dot com so that spammers can't get it..and if ur concerned bout us having it then just edit the post and take it off after grendelq has emailed you or vice versa? :)

Thanks everyone. I never thought help would be so forthcoming.

My email address is "yixiang.liang at gmail dot com"
