Just got this from a listserv! Thought I'd pass it on....wish I could go, but the weekend is already preempted.
We are looking for people to come out and join us in this protest against Oralism/Audism. Lately there have been too many incidents where those of Oralism philosophy have pushed their way into the Deaf realm such as the Indiana board school appointed by the Governor of Indiana. A growing number of Deaf children are being raised in hearing schools which aren't using American Sign Language (ASL). An even bigger growing number of Cochlear Implant (CI) babies are not ALLOWED to use visual cues, let alone the rich and thriving language of ASL. THIS IS WRONG! This is destructive to the Deaf child and also the Deaf world/Deaf community itself. Won't you join us? We could use some interpreters as hopefully there'll be some reporters there. The most needed time for interpreters will probably be on Thursday and Saturday.

This protest and March is not about ourselves and our individual rights. We are here to protest, march and fight as a gift of hope for all Deaf babies and children's rights. That will lead to changing the future for all of us!

All of us are volunteering our time, energy and money. Would you do me a favor and pass this around so that the number of people showing up would be powerfully visual? We need not just interpreters, but deaf people, Hearing allies of the Deaf which includes Parents of Deaf children. CODAs, and Hearing friends/signers.
