My boyfriend works out of town for months at a time, so our relationship relies on the phone, for the most part (he doesn't know how to use internet). The problem I have is that I already have a hard time using the phone, and his accent makes it nearly impossible for me to understand what he's saying...

So I'm looking into getting TTY, anyone know how much it costs?

You would want to try using Nextalk for PC which is on www.nextalk.com. It can do tty function, too. He uses the TTY at work?

No...I'm not sure WHAT he'd use, exactly...

What I'd basically need is for someone to type what he's saying--I could speak to him directly, otherwise...

you need a VCO device--

I am not sure what VCO mean exaclty... basically it is a device that will type out what the other party on the phone is saying via a relay operator but when it is your turn to talk, you can use your OWN voice!

VCO "Voice Carry Over"

There are several models. You might want to "shop" around until you find which model fits you right

Anothe way to do VCO is to call tty relay service and tell them that you want to usse your voice but read what your bf says to you. Also you will need a phone or cell phone to talk on the line. I used double phone jack for tty and old rotary phone. :)

If you have internet, use an online relay website. They're free! :thumb:

the post said that he don't know how to use internet!! :P
I know he doesn't, but she does. She uses the internet to contact him and he simply answers the call with a phone. Simple as that.

Some services allow the other person to call you from phone to internet.
