I have a big and deep cast-iron frying pan called a "chicken fryer" which used to have a curved glass lid.  There was a lot of space in there because of the curved lid and it was perfect for popcorn, with lots of expansion space.

Unfortunately a few years ago, my husband accidentally dropped the lid and it broke.  I still have the pan itself which I use with a flat one-size-fits-all type of metal lid.  It's fine for stewing chicken and making spaghetti sauce and that sort of thing, but terrible for popcorn now.

Too bad about that, because I like having multi-purpose kitchen things, and I just never wanted to buy some other bulky thing for making popcorn.

Love the cast iron, though.  The pan itself is probably about 40 years old.  Cast iron just never dies.
