Well, Friday I had ants in my pants, sooooooooooo I went out and cut the grass, then got out the weedeater and started knocking down the overgrowth on the hillsides.
Saturday i woke to my left eye glued shut, thought it was pinkeye, but its not. I had what appeared to be mosquitoe bites on my ankles, arms, neck and eye/face....
Turns out I just found out I got into everything (Poison Oak/Ivy and Sumac) aaarrrrgggghhhhh !!!!! I hate weed deeters !!!!!!

Been fighting this all weekend and now I know why nothing is working.

:aw: oh that sucks...but actually I first saw the title and was like...whoa...<with all that's going on> did somebody poison you or your dog or something??? so....glad THAT wasn't it.
I found this: Poison ivy: Tips for treating and preventing

Poison ivy toxicity is horrible my ex husband did some yard work for a guy that he thought was his 'friend' and the so called friend had my ex cutting down poison ivy plants all day long. When my ex got home he was so sick he had to stay in bed for a few days .

sonocativo , I hope you'll get better soon , you'll have a lot laundry to do and get rid of the shoes laces on your shoes or boots . I heard of people
getting poison all over again touching their shoes or boots laces.

I guess from it being so hot and I was sweating like a pig, it didnt do much to me, just my forearms, neck area where the shirt didnt cover, my ankles because I was wearing low cut socks... But I actually have it IN my eye and all over that eyelid...the worst of it. My wife says I may have to go get a shot.

That really has to suck having in on your eye lid . Are you putting anything on it too ? My ex had it on his penis too and man he was miserable . He got it all over his hands and had no idea he was touching poison ivy and went to the bathroom.

No they said to let it air and dry out, no blisters just a rash and swollen, I probly wiped sweat off my face as its in one eye and the other side on my cheek, since I was using a weed deeter I used one hand to hold it and the other ( same hand) wiping my face as I pulled vines off the head that got tangled while cutting....wont do that again. Its all weeds/brush growing on the hills, so I think Im gonna soak it with ROUNDUP and kill every damn thing on the hills, tired of the pains of cutting it. Hopefully get it dozed and landscaped sometimes in the near future.

I don't think ROUNDUP will kill the roots that deep down , that crap been growing there for years . You know you should not burn poison ivy , right . you can inhale the poison when it burn. I wonder if doctors still tell people to use calamine lotion or just let it dry out.

Hope that the rash clears up soon.

i find ROUND UP useless thank god no poisen ivy see lot americans complain about that would anti histamin help

Yes, and we are not allowed to open burn anyways. Last time I cut it all down was in the winter , early spring when everything was dead or dormant. Once it is bulldozed I will have plastic laid under the soil to kill anything still able to thrive, especially that thorny Vietnam vine shit that grows everywhere. With fresh soil on top and all it should be alright.
I know I posted picture of how I want to lay out a concrete parking pad. I think I am going to do some sort of either a retaining wall or multi tired concrete platform with openings for flowers or gardening, maybe in a step fashion?

I had a brick house and last owner allowed some vine to grow all over the back of the house . I was told that was bad for the bricks and tried to cut the vine down. Man they really have little teeth that bite into the bricks.
That plastic will do the trick as long as no wild animals start digging around. I never had poison ivy , and I been near it a lot of times.
You'll have to keep your dogs away from the ROUNDUP that stuff is toxic.

yes, the dogs are on leaders so they can only stay in the back of the house, we keep them indoors, out to potty and back, unless we walk them on a leash....until I get a fence up.
The Farm supply store sells an herbacide that supposedly kills all plants it is sprayed on and is biodegradeable/safe...targets certain plants/brush so I will try that first.

The meds are helping, as the itching has subsided in my eye, neck drastically, but man does it make me feel sick. id rather feel sick that claw my skin off like a meth head...lol

Yeah, dont know if I want to mess with Diesel fuel, But thanks for the link, I think I have seen that before and it may even be a product I have used at one time, just never really paid attention, got it from a hardware store in the boonies once. First I got to knock this shed roof out then if I got enough Ill buy the weed killer and get it applied since we are gonna have some hot dry weather for awhile to really help it take effect.

We have it all over our backyard. We live in a forest. :) I quit mowing and the guys do it now. I am horrible at distinguishing what poison ivy looks like. We have other plants that have the same 3 leaves, yet they are not poison ivy. So I don't know what is what.
