I'm just curious if there's any other users here with Phonak Superos that are having issues with it feedbacking. I can't wear my BTE BEHIND my ear, cause then it just feedbacks and never quits (this has been ongoing for months now). I have a friend who has Supero hearing aids too and she herself also have the feedback issues when they're behind her ears as well. She's been manually turning the volume down just enough to stop the feedback, but I can't turn down the volume as then it's even far more difficult for me to hear what's going on. And no I haven't been to an audie about this either, have had some issues with the local audie (and there aren't any other "top" audies locally I could try going to either). I don't mind leaving my hearing aid hanging in front of my ear, it doesn't bother me, as long as I can hear. It didn't do this when I first got it (even after several adjustment periods). Even with the last adjustment made (done Sept. 2007), I didn't have the feedback issue. But it's definitely been ongoing for several months now. Over a year I think at least.

You would definitely need to find another audiologist. It seems that it is one way to go. Sorry!

I think that your ear molds are no good due the feedback issue which means that you need new ear molds. You can get some options with different style of ear molds. Here is the link: Ear Molds (allamericanmold.com)

There are also two different type of molds: soft and hard. Mine is soft that eliminate the feedback (in the picture almost like #3). A hard mold is usually a common problem with the feedback.

it can't be the earmold... when I have the HA in front of my ear, it's fine, no feedback. It only feedbacks when the HA is behind my ear.

Couldn't it be that when it is behind your ear, it pulls out from the ear canal just enough to unseal and cause the feedback?

I doubt it. I've messed with the earmold and all too and no luck. I could even hold the earmold in myself and try flipping the hearing aid back behind my ear and boom feedback, so I'm pretty sure it's not the earmold.

If you have plugged the output the best you can and it will feedback once it is on the ear it sounds like internal feedback. If that the case the aid will have to be send back to Phonak for repairs. I do not have that issue with my Supero. Internal feedback could be caused by leak in the receiver or the microphone supports is not protecting the microphone from the vibrations from the receiver as it should. My personal method for testing internal feedback is to remove the ear mold and plug the output with my thumb on one hand and cup the aid in my other hand and see if it will feedback. Sometimes using a thin wall tubing can and will feedback in high power aids. Make sure that you are using either double wall or thick wall tubing. You need to find a better audiologist since it is not hard to find the cause of the feedback.

That would require traveling and at this time I can't afford to drive 3 hours down to the university's audiology department. Will email the audie there though and see what she says.

I'll have to get my mom involved with testing the internal feedback, she could listen for the feedbacking. I didn't even realize there could be internal feedback.

Make sure your hair isn't in the way or touching any part of your HA. Try touching your HA with your hand and fingers, see if this also causes feedback. It causes feedback when I hold my hand over my HA while im wearing it but otherwise no problem.

my hair is pulled back on a daily basis (used to be that my hearing aid would get cut off if I left my hair down, so I've been pulling it back to prevent the cutting off), and hearing aid still feedbacks anyway. HA feedbacks horribly too if I have my Hatis Epic ear hook right next to it, behind the ear or not. Doesn't matter what side of the HA the Epic ear hook is on, HA still feedbacks. Once I switch to telecoil, no problem but on normal setting it's obnoxious.
