Has anyone used the Savia 311 dsz model hearing aid? If so did you like it? What did you like and whatt did you not like about it?
I am using the savia 211 now and a few weeks ago we maxed out the power on it and it still is not cutting the mustard. My audie said my next option would be the 311. Any thoughts?

Sorry to not answer your q but
not cutting the mustard
... i hadddd to LOL on that one haha. I have phonak too! I love my ha haven't had any probs with it yet! I would say tho prolly try out the ha for the trial period to see if u like it and if it "cuts the mustard" for ya then go for it! The new phonak naida and exelia look like good options too! they are both featured on phonak's website :)

I was using Savia 311 dsz aids until about 4 weeks ago when my hearing took a dive. What is your loss like? Are you expecting it to get worse anytime soon? If so you might want to consider something like the Naida, or Exelia instead. They both have much more power than the Savia 311 dsz.

I did really like them though. I liked the WindBlock on them, and the sound quality was quite good. However, they didn't quite cut it for music in my opinion. Though I am yet to find an aid that is really good for music. I am not sure how much of a difference there is between the Savia 211, and the Savia 311.

Feel free to ask me anymore questions. If you have specific ones I might be able to help!

JennyB,
I have a profound Loss in my left ear and severe in the right. I have asked about how much more I will lose but get the same answer. They don't know what causes the loss and they don't know when it will happen. I can lose it all tomorrow or go the next thirty years and not lose any more.I have had 3 surgeries on the left ear to try to save any residual hearing but they were unsuccesful. The surgeries were due to a perilymph fistula. They have no idea why I am losing hearing in the right ear.
Recently I have really started having a lot of trouble with hearing or understanding speech. I am ok with environmental sounds but speech especially speech in noise has become a real problem.
We have already maxed out the power on the h/a's I have now. I am going to go back on tuesday to try and "tweek" the frequencies to see if we can get better word recognition. I don't think I have ever had the hint test though. It has always been the usual single words with no backround noise. Should I ask her to do that to get a better idea? The last hearing test i had, i tested around 74% for speech recognition.
I am concerned as my job relies a lot on communication.( you can only smile and nod so much)
can you please tell me a little more about the type of loss you have? Thank you so much for responding.

Hey Adam,

With a severe to profound loss I would probably consider a stronger aid, like the Naida. I will be trying it soon and I will let you know what I think!

When I was using the Savia 311 dsz successfully my loss was a moderate-moderatly severe mixed loss in my right ear, and moderately severe-profound mixed loss in my left.

Here is my audiogram from that then...

Freq R L SRT (same in both): 70db
250 55 65 Speech Discrim: 84% at 105db
500 50 55
1000 55 60
1500 60 65
2000 60 75
4000 60 80
6000 60 90
8000 60 85

At the point when the Savia 311 dsz stopped working for me my loss was severe-profound mixed loss in my right ear, and profound mixed loss in my left.

Here is my audiogram from then...

Freq R L SRT (same in both): 90db
250 90 85 Speech Discrim: CNT
500 90 95
1000 80 85
1500 85 105
2000 85 100
3000 80 120
4000 95 120
6000 105 NR
8000 NR NR

I was maybe getting a bit of environmental sound from them at this point but not much at all.

Now with my hearing being at a profound loss in both ears, with only residual low frequency hearing left they don't do anything for me. I couldn't really tell the difference between having them on or off. I just felt dizzy with them on.

Hope this helps a bit! Feel free to ask more questions!

The Mafias do the job, I also got the Siemens and octican, I switch off with the 3 since one works better for different reasons. Also u need a really experienced audiologist to work with u.. I'm very profound deaf but my job requires me to hear so I let them adjust the aids to qualify me.. good luck

This original thread was from 3 years ago. Why is "northernsydney" making "comments" that are really just copying a part of a statement from someone else's previous post? Is "northernsydney" a person or a post-copying robot?
