Oh no!!! I remember seeing him on TV about the news!! Rest in peace. :(

 I just got a breaking newscast from Channel 10 in Providence that Peter Jennings has passed away. I, too, have watched him for so many years, because of his compassion, and the love he had for his job as Anchorman. I will miss him so much!!!!
"May you rest in Peace dear Peter"

"Good night and Good news" Thank you for doing such a great job, and now you're with the "great ones" in Heaven!!!

Peter Jennings,Last of the great anchorman,First Tom Brokaw GONE! Then Dan Rather GONE! and now peter jennings? Will Ted Koppel anchor ABC World News Tonight?I just learned he had lung cancer. Now will his wife SUE the tabbaco company to clam her husbands death? I wonder after the funeral will she tell the driver go to her lawyers office?

This is really sad. I will miss him. I knew he was sick but I didn't realize how sick he was. :ily: too Peter Jennings! I'm sorry you've left us.

This is quite some news...knowing he was sick, but didn't realize the severity of his illness until now. I've grown to appreciate his compassion for the many years of providing news. His calming demeanor was a big plus which in turn allowed many people to consider him a very respectable and worthy news anchor. He'll be greatly missed!

May his family, friends, co-workers be comforted through this time, rest in peace Peter....

I am sorry that Peter Jennings passed away, and he will rest in peace from suffering....He will be missed. :(

Wow, I didn't even know that he was passed away until now. I was so busy all day today so I did not even get a chance to find out about it. Of course we will miss him!

I didn't know him but I am still sorry to hear about this. :(

Ha he must have known that tabacco are unhealthy. Every cigarettes packets have warning label about affect the healthy. I can't see the sense why anyone sue tabacco companies for damage their healthy because it's their own responsibly for take cigarettes which they knew it's bad healthy thru tabacco label. *shake the head*

Yes, he had lung cancer. I highly doubt she'll be in the frame of mind to sue anybody, Steve. Please don't go on another rant. We don't need to hear it. I'm pretty sure I can speak for most of us, I'm alittle shocked and stunned to hear of his passing. We don't need to expend energy arguing some senseless point with you.

I most humbly agree with OB and please make a thread of your own, RS.This is for Peter Jennings and the news legacy he left behind with all of us. We only wish to share such wonderful memories we had from his broadcasts. Peter Jennings gave news broadcasting a face when back then it was only broadcasted by voice.

People were able to identify with Peter Jennings because he was with us throughout the global disasters such as the wars, Exxon Valdez oil spill and the global defining moments such as the NAFTA treaty, East and West Germany uniting together, Euro dollar and so on.

Peter Jennings shared the news with us with such humanity and we didn't need to be hearing or deaf. We could see from his face and the emotions. A simple shake of the head or a proud smile, you could see the news were bad or good. Rest in peace, Peter.

Thank you, Cookie. I do feel rather stunned at hearing of his passing. I also can see how you'd feel. Jennings was Canadian, was he not?

I never actually watched any of his news casts, but from what I gleaned from interviews and such, he seemed like an honorable and sincere man. He also was very determined to fight his disease. I counted back to when he was diagnosed, and it wasn't that long ago. He lived roughly 5 mos from diagnosis. He was also so positive. This will make you think!

Anyway, I'm shocked, stunned and alittle sad that he's gone.

Rest in Peace, Peter Jennings.

 this is the first ive heard of his death! :( so sad -- i grew up seeing Jennings as the anchorman on the evening news -- RIP Peter Jennings!
