Hi everyone! I'm new here, and I was wondering what everyone's general opinion is about people who can't speak, or mute people. I kind of have a lot of questions, so I hope you guys can help me out.
I'm fully able to hear and speak, so I apologize in advance if I accidentally offend anyone, I'm trying my best not to, but I don't have any experience with Deaf culture.
Anyway, to get to the point, I'm a writer, and I was trying out some new characters when I realized that one of them was mute. So I'm wondering how mute people fit into Deaf culture and such, because I would like to make my writing as realistic as possible. I sort of assumed on my own that he would fluently speak sign language to communicate, but anything else anyone can tell me about this sort of situation would be extremely helpful.
