I would throw my xbox 360 into bowl fill with Mineral Oil for keeping cpu and gpu cooler..

If you want to see more the video clip of Mineral Oil, then go to google: Mineral oil list

UBUNTU Yeeeaahh!! Way to go!!

I've seen one before few years ago. They use vegetable oil and submerge mobo and power supply in the tank. they removed heat sink off the CPU hee hee. It's old news.

For Xbox 360, you'll need to remove CPU fan, GPU fan and power supply fan and also hard drive and CD rom drive too. Just drop the board w/power supply and have extension cable for CDdrive and hard drive so it'll be on dry place. You can easily damage CDrom drive and hard drive if put in Mineral or Vegetable oil.

It's a neat thing but what would you do if you spill tankful of vegetable oil on floor, it'll suck your day big time. :rofl:

The only thing I could do is to mod the hard drive. removing aluminuim cover and cut a big hole on cover then glue a Plexiglass on top of big hole then screw the cover back on. Add a hard drive light over the hard drive disk platter with r/w arm. It's mesmerizing effect to watch disk's R/W arm vibrate in high speed while it read/write with hdd light strobing in dark room, visually stopping the arm in split seconds. It's pretty risky because you can easily damage hdd disk from particle of dusts from Plexiglass or any cuttings you made. It last me few days till I accidently dropped hdd on table just few inches and ran it, System tell me that there is data errors. OOps! I must admit it look sexy with see through hdd mod.

Deafscooter used same thing before for my Large FileServer System has Filled Mineral Oil
into over 30 Gallon of filled fluid and it running over 3 years old on Non Stopped System!

Here my friend has Cray MainFrame with Filled Mineral Oil in Very Powerful MultoProcessor

Here is Picture is ==>
attachment.php

They running Most Powerful MainFrame System => Since 1978 till today..

That's strange because once minerial oil filled in tank and motherboard, powersupply, etc should get static electricity.

Not like water or other oil-based liquids, mineral oil is non-conductive. That means it is safe to use with electricity.

Mineral oil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think my cpu liquid-cooling unit uses the mineral oil to avoid corruption like what happens to water-cooling units.

How fast is that old Cray compared to the current PC/Macs?
