"Passions" is a daytime soap opera that aired on NBC but got canceled. DirecTV picked it up and produces it now. They started showing it on their Channel 101 as of this past week. It appears that they are NOT closed-captioning Passions. I emailed them but was told "we do not close-caption programming on our Channel 101". With no explanation as to WHY!!

My site has transcripts for all of the daytime soaps, but it gets the transcripts from the closed-captioning, so now it will be very difficult for us. There are many Passions fans that do not have DirecTV and rely on our transcripts.

Please take a moment and go to their site at
DIRECTV - E-mail Us

Fill out their form and ask them politely to put closed-captioning in Passions.

Please keep it brief and polite. Please do not use bad words or threats. Feel free to tell them that it is not fair to deaf people, though. If you DO have DirecTV please feel free to tell them that and to say you are very unhappy about this. Please pass the word on to others.

Also, I started a petition at
Put the closed-captioning back in "Passions" on DirecTV. Petition

Please sign it and pass it along to others you know that might help out...

I will be posting the transcripts as long as I can stand writing them up by hand, and hopefully some clips, screencaps, and summaries as well.
They are at Passions Main Page From The TV MegaSite

Thanks!

Hello slanoue

Welcome to alldeaf here!

Very interesting post you got here. I love and used to watch Passions daily but was very disappointed that that show is no longer on NBC station. Yes I just aware of it has been changed to Direct Tv now. Unfortunately I don't have Direct Tv here. As you mentioned it doesn't have cc on Direct Tv for Passions, it's a shame for all deaf Passions fans who also have Direct Tv.

I don't know 'Passions' because I don't really care for soap operas. Slanoue, is there any other tv programs on channel 101 that is closed-caption? If not, then that is why 'Passions' is not closed-caption. That is what it sounds like to me. I have a very basic cable so I don't have channel 101.
