Well awhile back I started the bathroom, removing the old tub and installed a shower, weather changed ( snow and Ice) so had to stop awhile. Well today I got some more materials and started back on it and got the lid made, lights installed and durarocked. Tomorrow Impicking up the tile and going to get it finished, grouting will be the next day. Going to be some custom cutting on the tiles to fit around the lights and the offsets, but in all, it should end up really nice when done... then to get the wallpaper off and get them done as well. Think its going to end up as half tiles and half painted? IMG_0968.JPG IMG_0969.JPG IMG_0968.JPG IMG_0969.JPG IMG_0970.JPG IMG_0971.JPG IMG_0972.JPG

Tomorrow to get tile up and next day to grout as long as everything sets up in the mastic.

Looks great. I am trying to remember if there is another bathroom with a tub. Thinking of how good soaking in a hot tub can be when sore for overdoing things.

Nope, took the tub out. They didnt want it ( cant get in/out of it ) thats why the shower was put in. Yeah, Id like the tub to soak in or my son to bathes, kinda a pain giving a small one a shower.

Can you put a little kiddie pool in the shower for him?

My memory is off! I thought they had a quite large house with more than one bathroom.

I shower about 99% of the time but would not want to live in a place with no tub at all. The company that I worked for for many years at one time renovated an old building with 3 or 4 apts. They put in showers only. I told them that because of that it was one place they were sure to not get me as a tenant!

Dont think it would fit, he likes showers but I get wet too washing his hair and helping him wash... not bad, but tubs are easier

Got it.

I know they make little baby tubs that would probably fit but I didn't know if he might balk at something that was made for babies since he's a "big boy" now. :)

Does the new shower have a hand-held shower? That might make it more versatile for different family members.

Yeah I agree baths are lot easier with kids , I had an old fashion claw bathtub , it was huge . My daughter could had float in it as a baby . It was so comfortable .
Your parents are so lucky to have a son like you ! What color will the walls be? It's looking really good ! :)

yes it has the hand held shower, makes it easier to wash his hair but having him hold it and aim it to back is a challenge as he wont stay still lol

Upper shower walls and ceiling for the shower will be a light brown ceramic tile, debating doing tile midway up from floor around entire bathroom, it looks really good with the multi slate colored floor. Upper walls in bathroom would be painted, posibly tan, maybe red? I wanted it to have a bold pop to it. dont know yet until we get to that point. Right now I want to get the shower done. Called a friend and waiting on a reply, Im having issues with my neck and back today trying to get the tiles set overhead. Walls are ok, but the overhead is killing me,

Kudos to you for all you are doing for your parents. You've taken on a lot of projects for them.

Wanna come over and finish MY basement? :)
Thanks, wish they would either make my sister do something or kick her ass out.
I might, thinking to do some side jobs this summer. Going to get a small trailer to haul stuff and possibly cut yards ( trailer to haul the riding mower mainly) get some big properties to cut and spend the day driving around like Im drunk in a field...lol

Sorry to hear your having issues with your neck and back . I bet doing the overhead is hard. I like bold too . That smart doing tiles for the shower ceiling
you won't be needing paint is all the time . My dad took such hot showers the paint would get steamed off the bathroom ceiling all time , the ceiling had to be painted
all the time until panels were put up on the ceiling. Red sound nice . :)

Nice. When you are finished with everything, be sure to leave yellow rubber ducky to make a good laugh. :)

I thought I remembered seeing ads for some that are rectangles rather than round. I didn't look at details but this is what Google brought up https://www.google.com/search?q=blow-up+pools&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 Still wondering if this is the only bathroom in the house? Even if not as close to the bedroom you and your son are using if there is a tub in another bathroom it might be worth using it.

I didn't quote her's but agree about a hand held shower. I have had one for years and love it. One advantage is taking a shower without getting hair wet.

I thought I had posted this hours ago but now come back and find I did not. So I hope this does not seem tooooo late.

I lived in places that had the old claw footed tubs until I was well into my 30's. I really agree with WDYS about how comfortable they are to bath in. But all that I dealt with were in such close quarters that I didn't like what it took to clean under and around them.

Tiled and ready for grout.... I hate tiling, I despise it... hate it hate it hate it, 2 days of pissing me off.
Nothing went right from the get go, large tile wouldnt stay on ( one fell and punctured the shower pan when it hit on the corner) so I had to epoxy a small hole. Took all the large tiles back and got the smaller tile and different mortar mix. IMG_0981.JPG
