Pam Anderson expects death in a decade

NEW YORK -- Pamela Anderson says hepatitis C, which she was diagnosed with in 2001, will probably kill her in a decade.

"I think I've got a good 10 years left in me, which is sad, too. Maybe 15, if I'm lucky," Anderson tells Us Weekly magazine in a first-person story for the Nov. 3 issue.

"It's scary, but lately I've been feeling great. For some reason, my liver keeps getting healthier."

Hepatitis C causes inflammation of the liver, which can lead to cirrhosis, liver cancer and liver failure. About 3.9 million Americans have the disease. Anti-viral drugs are a standard treatment, and therapy is successful about half the time.

But Anderson isn't taking interferon, the injectable drug hepatitis patients often use. Her homeopathic doctor, Wendy Hewland, tells the magazine she "made a single remedy specifically for Pam" that Anderson is using as an alternative form of medicine.

The 36-year-old actress, who starred in the TV shows "Baywatch" and "V.I.P.," also says she's no longer planning to marry singer Kid Rock, to whom she got engaged in April 2002.

"We're not engaged anymore. Our relationship is not really something you put a label on," she says. "He wanted to buy me a house in Malibu, Calif., (in August), but the thing is, I really just need to be with my kids and work on their relationship with their father."

That would be former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, with whom she resolved an ugly custody battle in January. The couple married in 1995 and divorced three tumultuous years later.

"There's definitely a lot of love and history between Tommy and me, that's for sure. It doesn't matter whether we're together or not. We're crazy about each other -- always have been, always will be," Anderson says.

"I'm just happy that my kids (Dylan and Brandon) are having a healthier, better relationship with their dad. Now we spend a lot of time together as a family -- we go to movies, we cook dinner, everything."

it didnt say what had caused her to get Hep C -- thats sad news abt Pamela Anderson

Well, first Pam accused Tommy of giving her hepatitis C, but Tommy stated that he did not have it at all. It might be a tattoo inking because I read the agreement form that tattoo inking or body piercing could have cause Hepatitis C because needles can contact with blood no matter what how sterile needles are.

Sad about Hep C.....

Not only from the Needle with inking(tattoo) or so.. but drugs sharing (herion, and non-safe sex as well too if it involves with some heavy stuffs) something like that my ex-lawyer told me about it.. I had to go to doctor, and drag my two kids to see their pediatrician doctor to get them check out too, and my dearly husband who stick by me whole time we all had blood test. and were told we are not hep C (whew thank god).. my ex-bf has one, my long long time friend has one too, his friend has one too and died few months later as he didn't take care of himself he cont. to drink, drugs, etc... but my long long time friend STOPPED drinking... (yes the drinking can make hep C problem worst too)... Anyway He stopped drink for 1 year half i think a little more.. yup he did.. 1 year 8 months he could not work now because of his hep C and his Chirros was badly too. he cont to take medications no drugs (street drugs). when i saw him few months ago he was weak. couldn't stand to long, he didn't look like himself. very pale, very thin, very "painful look" These Hep C are very danger.. People will die from it if not taken care of it, and not to skip, and follow what the doctors says. you may get a lucky to stay live and cure... but when you don't take care of it good. then you get a bye bye..

Pam took a big risk with an homeopathey... I would probably take a chance but with hep C that I see my friend going thru I could not ingore that... My ex is very sick according to my old lawyer so eventually he couldn't basically take care of himself he cont to drink again (on and off) so now we havent heard anything about him since June because my husband 'Adopted' my two kids...

I feel sorry for some people who has Hep C and trying to save their own life.. my other friend's uncle had one He looks great but he does get tired too.. her aunt told me that i was like wow... soo. im like whew good for him "fighting for his health"

So, gotta go bed. nite all.
Wendy

I'm also curious about how Pam contracted Hep C. It's sad that she contracted that disease...but it's good to see that she's trying to take better care of herself and ensuring that her kids have a better and healthy relationship with their father, Tommy Lee.

I will take a class about Hep B, C and HIV on November 12th. with an interpreter. I am not familiar with Hep B and C. My kids got three shots to prevent from Hep. It is a free shot from the doctor office or Mental Health Agencies.

If you work with people, it would be more wise for take a free shot to prevent Hep B.

I am curious what is the difference between Hep b and c ??

How did Pam get Hepetitis C?

"Announced that she has Hepatitus C by sharing a tatoo needle with her ex-husband Tommy Lee. The tatoo needle was used to make the barb- wire tatoo rings on her left arm. She is udergoing outpatient treatment for the disease at the University of California, Los Angles Medical Center. [March 20, 2002]"

WBHarley - thank goodness you're ok! Ugh, I'm sorry about the loss of your friend and pray for other friend of yours, too.

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis A is caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). It is spread by eating food or drinking water that has been contaminated by infected human feces. Infected food handlers can pass the virus on to other people if they do not wash their hands with soap and water after using the bathroom. About 150,000 people in the United States are infected each year with hepatitis A, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Most infections with hepatitis A are acute. This means that the infection lasts for less than 6 months and resolves itself without the help of medical treatment. With hepatitis A, you may be able to continue to work and function, and you can recover at home.

The CDC lists household or sexual contact, daycare attendance or employment, and recent international travel as the major known risk factors for transmission of hepatitis A. Infected food handlers and people who have used contaminated needles are also at risk for transmission of hepatitis A.

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) can cause a serious form of hepatitis. About 1.2 million people in the United States have hepatitis B. Hepatitis B may develop into a chronic disease (which means it lasts more than 6 months) in up to 10% of the 200,000 newly infected people each year. If left untreated, the risk of developing cirrhosis (scarring of the liver) and liver cancer is increased in patients with chronic hepatitis B.

In the United States, the major risk factors for hepatitis B are unprotected sex with multiple partners and intravenous drug use.

Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C virus (HCV), once known as "non-A, non-B" hepatitis, affects about 4 million Americans. It develops into a chronic infection in about 85% of all infected patients.

Like chronic hepatitis B, if left untreated, the chronic form of HCV has a greater chance of resulting in cirrhosis, liver cancer, or even liver failure. Liver failure due to chronic hepatitis C infection is the leading cause of liver transplants in the United States.

The major risk factors for acquiring hepatitis C are intravenous drug use and transfusion of blood or blood products prior to 1992.

Other Types of Hepatitis

Hepatitis D, caused by the hepatitis D virus, only occurs with hepatitis B infection. A person can acquire hepatitis D infection at the same time he or she is infected with the hepatitis B virus (called coinfection). A person with hepatitis B can be infected with hepatitis D virus at any time after acute hepatitis B virus infection (called super-infection). The combination of hepatitis B and D can be more serious than hepatitis B alone and is more likely to cause serious chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis. Hepatitis D is spread in the same ways as hepatitis B. Intravenous drug users have a high incidence of hepatitis D.

Hepatitis E is similar to hepatitis A and is acute rather than chronic. Although hepatitis E is unusual in the United States, the virus has produced large outbreaks in Asia and South America. Direct contact with an infected person's feces or indirect fecal contamination of food, water supply, raw shellfish, hands, and utensils may result in sufficient amounts of the virus entering the mouth to cause an infection.

Hepatitis F appears to produce a type of hepatitis similar to hepatitis C, but scientists are not yet certain it is a separate hepatitis virus.

Hepatitis G is a newly identified virus that is probably transmitted in a similar fashion to hepatitis C. Scientists are unsure of its impact or how often it produces chronic symptoms or liver disease.

No, it depends on the type of Hep. My Grandad had one of them when he was in his 40's, but recovered completely, and didn't pass away (not of hep) till he was almost 90! Only some are fatal. I have autoimmune Hep, but it's not bad (and this type is NOT contagious!), and it's not fatal if you take care of yourself, which I do ofc! :)

Pam retracted the accusation that Tommy passed the Hep C on to her, she had said that when they were fighting over their sons bc she was mad at him over their family disputes. He has tested negative for it, so she didn't get it from him. I forget where there was a link to it now, but she did publicly say sorry for saying that about him.

I can sort of see what Pammy saw in Tommy... He is kind of strangely fascinating, just in a reptillian kind of way! You know, like when you go to the zoo, and you go look at the reptile pit... now there's not so many obvious reasons to be that interested in looking at them... they're scary and dangerous and not conventionally cute, and would bite your hand if you tried to pet them... but still you interested to go and look for a while... Tommy Lee is like that to me... I'm fascinated by him even though he has a baaaaad reputation! Also, there is a joke about Pammy liking rock guys with with diabetes... since she made sex tapes with both Bret Michaels from the band Poison (who is gorgeous!) and Tommy Lee. from the band Motley Crue.. who both have type 1 diabetes, which I only remember since I do too, so I've read a lot about them and how they deal with that disease while touring etc. Bret is a great role model for diabetes, since he is very strict about taking care of himself well... Tommy doesn't talk about that so much as Bret. Tommy would have had to be very careful if he had Hep C since it would make his diabetes much harder to manage. Complicate things badly. So that's why he knew it was important to get checked, and he didn't have it. Also Pammy likes Tommy since everyone says he is, um, very 'well endowed' and good in bed... which she likes! I think he has a nice smile. There are things about him that the media just ignore, like that he is very proud of his Greek heratage (He was born in Athens. His mother is Greek and father is American I think), he is a good father now he is sober again, he is generous to fans and takes time to talk to them instead of snobbing them like some celebrities do. I imagine there are things Pamela knows about him that she likes that nobody has printed in the media, bc, sadly, scandal and hype sells more papers than a story that says someone is normal and has kindness and cares about good things too. His record company like to show his 'bad' image too since that is all part of marketing him and his solo work now. It's partly just for show. ofc he does have anger issues when he falls off the wagon and drinks/does drugs. :( I wish him all the best and happiness, and Pammy too. Their sons are very cute and look like nice little boys... they deserve to have their parents around to love them for a long while yet.

Tommy is dating the singer Pink now! She is 17 years younger than him, but they seem to like each other.

any idea if she would have to live more years to go?? i dont follow her update news.
