Yesterday a friend of mine e-mailed me a link to a YouTube video which contains a hearing test. She and I tried taking the test yesterday and she told me that I'm able to hear between 100 Hz and 2K with both of my CIs.

With my left CI only, I could hear 200 Hz through 2K.

With my right CI only, I could hear 200 Hz through 2K.

I don't believe in the validity of online hearing tests, but I was interested in the fact I couldn't hear anything above 2K yet my audi's testing indicated that I could hear 4K at 60 dB with my left CI as well as 4K at 60 dB and 8K at 70 dB with my right.

I wonder if the tones produced in the YouTube video are different from those used on an audiometer?

if I turn the volume up, I can hear up to 60. if I lower it, I can't hardly hear anything.

That won't make a difference if you don't have residual hearing in certain frequencies.

I turned the volume of my PC speakers as loud as they could go for frequencies above 2K, but I couldn't hear them.

Could feel the vibrations but cannot hear a thing with CI and my poor dog was besumed with the highs!!

How could you feel the vibrations? Do you mean you could feel vibrations through your computer speakers?

The laptop was vibrating between 100 and 400hz, dog were unsettled at the highs above 2000. It's on my lap obviously! :D but still hear nothing! I am getting curious!!

The speakers is probably too small, tried with PAC still nothing...

It must be your laptop. When I turn the volume on my PC speakers as loud as it will go, I have no difficulty whatsoever hearing frequencies from 100 Hz to 2K.

With my cochlear and my volume all the way up, I can hear it from the beginning (40 hz) , I took off my processor so my unimplanted ear can listen to it and I can't hear a thing (both of my ears had the same hearing loss before I had cochlear implant)

Really? I couldn't hear any tone until 100 Hz with both CIs and 200 Hz with each CI only -- even with the volume turned all the way up on my PC speakers.

well, I could hear just a faint in the 100 hz without the cochlear. But I didn't really want to go any higher as it could damage the speaker and plus I have a hearing son with me right now. I don't want to hurt his ears.

I understand. Some of the high pitched frequencies (1K and 2K) were quite loud.
