I have one question i totally forgot about.

Q= I know you cant blow nose or whatever for like 2 weeks but one problem... i sneezed once or twice every single day! How can I stop sneezing for 2 weeks? I heard put your tongue against roof of mouth helped is that true? or I have to just open my mouth and let it sneeze cuz I have no choice? lol
It would totally sucked if i get that sharp pain once or twice or even more everyday from sneezing.

I think you just sneeze with your mouth open. if you try to stop the sneeze the whole thing is kinda forced back so much harder on healing ears then just opening the mouth and letting it go. Of course be sure to ask your surgeon/dr. just to make sure. :) good luck.

Try using your index finger and press between your nose and upper lip. Firm pressure when you feel the sneeze coming on. Use the length of your finger between the first and second knuckle, not the end. Worked for me about 90% of the time.

Have they given you the 10lb limitation on lifting. If you lift more than that, you may find out that it was to much. They never told me what to expect but I'd get loud ringing in my implanted side when I'd go overboard so I really had to watch it.

Also, be slow at eating anything after surgery. Make sure your stomach has had time to settle down from the medication. I felt good, pain tollerable. The jello tasted really good but my stomach did not agree. Gave it about an hour then I was good to go.

Wish you luck. Hope you are amaized with the changes you will have. Exciting time.

For me, I can't believe it has been a year since I underwent the surgery. My wife kept the parking receipts from the hospital which I found several weeks ago. Pretty neat. January 15th will be a year since the processor was activated. Going in on Monday the 7th for my 1 year tune up. haha.

Wish you luck and hopefully you'll be able to get the sneezing stopped for your recovery.

Steve

I've never heard of that. Where did you hear that from?

I did sneeze after surgery, just tried to keep it as calm as possible. All I remember was the pain and dizziness. It was not that bad, just plan to rest and take a good week to recover.

I suggest pudding to eat. I eat it for 2 days straight.

I am so excited about this for you. Keep us posted!!!!!

You just sneeze through your mouth, keep your mouth open when you do it. Whatever you do, DO NOT BLOW YOUR NOSE, it ##&*)(*#)(# hurts! I cringe just thinking of the time I did it.

Sometimes if you feel like you need to sneeze.. lean your head back and ook upward. That helps once and a while

Good luck SkullChick. Another suggestion...if you are outside, wear sunglasses. Bright light will sometimes bring on the sneezes.

I could not take percocet. I had them give me hydrocodne. The first four days I did take it every 4 hours and then I changed over to tylenol for about a week. Everyone is different remember I had two ears done at the same time. Don't be afraid to take the meds. I could not eat hot food for a few days, so I ate pudding all kinds for a few days.

Another suggestion - don't lay down flat. Keep yourself on pillows. And the purple grape juice for the bad taste in your mouth.

Try and relax and just rest, all your want to do it sleep, eat and rest.

Don't try to hold back on sneezing or even yawning, I read that somewhere, because it can cause the blood vessel to burst.

I don't think you have much to worry about as the other posters have clued you in.

Anyhow, good luck on the surgery.

Interesting...
It's been 3 days post op, and I haven't sneezed once. Yes I get bad taste in my mouth, no wonder. Thanks for suggestion of eating pudding.

I had Percocet, and it works wonders. I guess you'll have to talk to your doctors of what kind. I think most will prescribe Tylenol with Codiene. I couldn't take it because I'm allergic.

Good luck!
