If you are currently wearing one hearing aid, but you used to wear two, or vice versa, how long were you wearing "the other number", and why did you change? Was the make of hearing aid/s also different, and what were they?

I wore two hearing aids when I was very young. I stopped wearing my ha for my right ear when I was 14 as the sounds were so distorted that they didn't make sense to me.

Nowadays, I have a cochlear implant.

Exact story for me... Except I stopped wearing my right HA when I was 7 or so.
I find it curious that the right ear seems to be a problem for a lot of HOH people or adults that start to lose their hearing at an older age...

I used to wear two hearing aids, but I am now down to one. The hearing aid in my right ear wasn't working out since I had a kind of hearing loss that can only pick up vibrating sounds (bass) and not other sounds. I also can't distinguish the sounds I hear with my right ear. For instance, if someone dropped a book on a table... I wouldn't know if it was someone using his hand, a book, or a door being slammed shut, or an explosion, etc. I just know that a sound was made, but not what it was.

My left ear does perceive things fine. :)

I wore two bte or in the ear hearing aids for 27 years. I like the bte better. I even wear the one in my right ear even for the last 7 years without sound. I liked the balance. I now wear 2 advanced bionic harmony CIs.

Can I ask what type of organization you deal with hearing impaired people every day?

I use to wear two hearing aids since I was five until the hearing in my left ear diminished to the point that no hearing aid could help. I wore bilaterial BTE Phonaks for 6 years, then continued to wear one in my right ear. I changed to a digital Siemens when I was 16, upgraded at 20 to another digital Siemens, had that repaired on a daily basis. Then at 27, my hearing diminished in my right ear another 10dB which brought me down to a level of 100dB to 120db and all my aid is good for is low frequency environmental sounds. I got a CI in the left and kept the HA in the right.

Young kid, I had two HA and now down to ONE. It been crossed from those two HAs.

When i was first diagnose i had one which was the wired down the chest type. As i got old maybe when i was about 6 years old I got 2 reg bte hearing aids. Then the last 9 years I have the digital bte. They work the best for me!!!

Wore two HA's and to this day still wears both, but sometimes I'll turn one off if it gets a tad noisy.
