Hello people,

I wanted to let you know that I've gotten my Ojo Videphone with Snap!VRS. I am very impressive with the easy install it was (all I did was plug it into modem port it start up right away.) I can move it anywhere on my desk at work, it only require little space instead having a TV with Sorenson on top of TV which is outrage.

I had apply for Ojo phone 5 months ago, I got email confirming that I was approve within couple of weeks (almost month) then I had to wait for the Ojo phone to arrive, after first 3 months pass by I thought it was just spam so I looked at Sorenson but I didn't like it so I thought I should stick to TTY. Times fly by... went on vacation for my birthday for 2 weeks. When I came back to work, there was box sitting next to my seat waiting. I looked at it and it was from SnapVrs and I open it, it looks cool. I made space for it, plug it in.... it start up within 2 minutes and I made test call to snapvrs they answer within 3-4 seconds. Very impressive with it. I have been using it for couple of days and no problem with it. Yes Ojo can call Sorenson VP user they just need to dial IP # instead it will work just fine.

Here is few info you will want to know about Ojo:

What you need
You must have the following available before installing your Ojo:

High-speed Internet connection with modem
Router, if sharing an Internet connection or subscribing to DSL (Note: each applicant is eligible to receive one free router)

Follow the simple setup procedure contained in the Quick Start Guide and you are ready to go. You just need to plug one end of the Ojo into the power supply and the other into your modem for the broadband Internet connection. No new network infrastructure, wiring or equipment is required. For customers using a router, Ojo is compliant with just about all of the major brands on the market today. For complete setup instructions, please consult the Ojo User Guide. The Ojo main menu will display a confirmation greeting upon successful setup.

Recording a video greeting
After setting up Ojo, you are ready to record a video greeting in sign-language for callers to see when you are not available. You may record a greeting up to 30 seconds in length. From the Ojo home screen, select Main Menu > Messaging > Record Greeting. For complete instructions, please consult the Ojo User Guide.

Video messaging enhances personal connection
Ojo includes video messaging features that let you receive, view, and store video messages from other Ojo callers. You can record a personal greeting that callers will see when you are not available. When a friend or family member calls and receives your video message, your Ojo will indicate that the greeting is being played by showing the caller's ID information and the word "greeting." The Ojo can store up to 20 minutes of video messages from other Ojo callers that comes with caller ID photo, date, and time of the call. Interesting indeed! Prehap I get this in events. thank you for share it with this forums!

I've seen the OJO hooked up at a Deaf friend's house, and it only took a few minutes. The picture was very clear. I've also received SnapVRS relay calls, and they were interpreted very well (I'm a terp myself, so I notice those things :) ). The Deaf people whom I know personally, really enjoy using their OJO's. They also like the fact that they don't need to tie up the family TV just to make calls.

Unless you have vision problems, the screen is plenty big enough to follow receptively. Personally, I think the picture looks sharper when it's compact than when it's blown up on a large screen TV.

But each person has his or her own preferences. I think it's good that there are choices out there.

Glad you like my post useful. If you have any question feel free to ask me.

Thanks

Kevin.

Kevin, you wrote, "The Ojo only requires . . . an existing household telephone number."

Do you mean a land-line telephone is necessary? Or will my cellular phone number do the job? I only use my cell phone for text messages, but it is capable of voice messages, because a hearie friend used it once.

I owned Ojo for several months myself and I do like it that I use it alot for VCO calls.

I don't have to call SnapVRS on a second line or landline instead I use the Ojo itself to speak to hearing people directly which make my VCO calls lot easier than before.

I still cannot recieve calls from VP-100 or VP-200 to Ojo but I can place calls to the VPs. Ojo been trying to get it working for me and still no luck.

Anyone managed to get VP call to Ojo working? I know you use ip address but Ojo does not show ringing or incoming calls from VP is my problem.

No it does not require a landline but a phone number from your landline or cell phone.

If you did not have a number Ojo will provide you one but easier to use your own number which make it easier for you to remember it and give to your friend.

My VP-100 and Ojo and landline are all same numbers.

.

You don't need to use landline, if you don't have phone number that you want to use for Ojo, they will provide one for you at no additional charge. You can plug in land phone line into Ojo if you have one, I believe it's for using wirless handset phone to speak in.. Not sure since then I am deaf LOL

Yes you can get calls from VP100 or VP200 you might had given them your Ojo Phone number which will not work. They need to call you by your IP number don't forget the (.) in betweens of IP numbers. That include calling VP 100- VP 200

Bill Care to talk in Ojo sometimes? my # is 19548092309. The # Will be change soon. I only use phone while I'm at work from 9-5 mon-fri but I use Ojo all the times for work, talk, etc.

Also I had spoke to Snap!Vrs supervisor about getting Directory for Ojo user and the find it very good idea. They will do everything to try to set it up as soon as possible. They are very good service.

Yeah it what I give them which are my ip address not my VP or Ojo numbers.

I am pretty well versed in networking and computing. Even the Ojo tech support are baffled why my Ojo is not able to recieve VP calls but I can place calls to VPs.

I have already completely removed VP from router and turn off DMZ then let VP folks try to call me and nada no incoming calls.

Right now I have both VP and Ojo on my router and DMZ turn off but correct ports forward to VP and Ojo that uses it so VP folks still can call me on VP and I can call out or Ojo can call me to Ojo.

.

Were you able to make outcall to VP 100 or 200? I never tried it but friend of mine has Ojo and she was able to call her friend that has VP200 with no problem.

But then.... Snap!Vrs Ojo has just came out of ground recently and they're doing everything to boom their biz and better their system. I'm sure they will figure out why you were not able to contact VP 100 VP 200 why don't we contact eachother and I will test to see if I can contact you on your VP200 if you would like.

I sent you an PM

I have done so many testing with many VP folks and yes I can call to any VP100 or VP200 with Ojo no problem at all.

But I cannot recieve incoming calls from VP100 or VP200 to my Ojo.

.

I highly recommend you to contact Snap!Vrs tech support again to see if they can do a call out to you on one of VP100 or VP200 if they have, if not ask them if they had complete test and if they were able to do it then you might had your setting wrong. I don't know... I'm not their IT dept LOL:ty:

Yeah as I mentioned in my previous post I already contact SnapVRS and they could not get my Ojo working to accept incoming calls so they forwarded me to Ojo tech support and they could not get my Ojo to accept incoming calls either. They spent all day long with me on the Ojo with different settings etc and still could not get it to work.

So that why I ask if anyone have already seen or can recieve incoming call from VP100 or VP200 to Ojo.

.

Me? No but I do know someone that had no problem. Anyone successed please let us know. I wish I could test it as well but then I do not know any deaf people (yet) but am welcoming new friends.

Kevin.

Actually Ojo isn't weird it's more like "modern video phone" and you will be able to place it on your desk next to your computer, or on coffee table by tv, really can put anywhere in the house and it's nice. It has answer machine.

You should apply for it and wait to get free one, better than not getting one.

Can it be use for business? :fingersx:

YES it can be used at work or home. I am using mine for work and it is helpful, for example I am travel agent I use relay service a lot and i sign through ojo vp and type into computer at same time.

Anywhere in the house??? I thought it has to be nearby computer because of plug in with high speed from hard drive or something?
