I agree. I have same experience about Cops not think about deaf existence in everywhere before they looked at my Hearing Aids. I didn't tell them that i am deaf first place with my voice and did not gesture with my hands to let them know that i am deaf. I was walking with my deaf friend to home late night. We took shortcut and Cop in his car saw us walking thru cemetery. He pulled up near us and he talked to us. I can barely hear him clearly. I have to come close to him to hear him talking us. He defensively get out his police car quickly. AND He asked us "Why didn't Yall answer my 3rd question." i was about to tell him but he examined me quickly to see if i have on hearing aids or something. He said "Oh, I sorry. You all are deaf?" I was 6'1, my friend was short and White cop was 6'3 or '4 taller than me . he was big guy. We were about get our butts kick. if i don't have on my hearing aids, i believe most cop might not take time to think i am deaf. They will think i am hearing or mischief. I not saying Hearing Aids save our lives. It is possible we Deafies are not SAFE. We need to think about cop are in danger too. Police do have negative opinion about the public. They HAVE time to think but they DON'T TAKE time to think.
