Gallup Daily: Obama Job Approval

Back in early 90's, approval rating for Bill Clinton was around 50% (in 1993), also first Bush has approval rating to be around 50% as well.

It's just trends, nothing is new or special.

Get over it, Koko! He already won the election almost one year ago so you have to suck it up like a man.

Here are the numbers reported by Gallup

Second.

I would be raising my eyebrow if it's 100%... 30-70% should be average.

100% imply dictatorship...

Despite Media Blitz, Little Change in Obama Job Approval
September 24, 2009 Despite the recent media blitz, President Obama's weekly average job approval rating continues to hover in the low 50% range.

Obama Approval Holding Steady in Low 50s
Averaging 52% approval in September
September 24, 2009 Barack Obama’s job approval rating, currently 51%, has been highly stable in September even as Obama has made high-profile efforts to increase support for his policies.More ...

Presidential Approval Usually Falls Below 50%; Timing Varies
Obama at 51% approval in eighth month in office
August 26, 2009 With 51% job approval, Barack Obama is now close to falling below the majority support level, and could do so at a faster rate than did all but two other post-World War II presidents. Historically, presidents have always bounced back to majority support after their initial drop below 50%

Obama Weekly Approval Average Now 52%, a New Low
Approval among seniors, upper-income Americans has fallen below 50%
August 24, 2009 President Obama averages a 52% job approval rating for the week that ended Sunday, compared to 54% the previous week and 59% a month ago. Since mid-July, his support is down among most political and demographic groups, putting several groups below the 50% approval threshold.

Amid Debate, Obama Approval Rating on Healthcare Steady
Americans disapprove of his handling of the issue, by 49% to 43%
August 12, 2009 More Americans disapprove (49%) than approve (43%) of Barack Obama’s handling of healthcare policy, hardly changed from views expressed in mid-July. Americans are evenly divided on his handling of the economy and give him more positive than negative marks on foreign affairs and education.

Obama Job Approval Varies by State
August 10, 2009 President Obama's average job approval rating for January-June of this year is highest in the District of Columbia (92%) and lowest in Wyoming (46%).

Actually the average of the overal averages is around 54% for the past 11 presidents. See post above. These approval ratings float around throughout a presidents term and I don't know of anyone other than the politicians themselves that should really care about them.

For me, this says it all

Yup. Suspicious, isn't it? :)

Statistics, statistics, statistics. That's all they are... statistics.

Gee whiz.

Not really suspicious. To me it re-enforces why you have to take this information with a grain of salt. As Banjo said, it's all just a bunch of numbers that don't mean much to us average folks. It's the politicians that are probably the most interested in the numbers. My personal feelings usually do not coincide with the polls.

Taking things "with a grain of salt" IMPLIES suspicion.
They could all be fabricated to sway public opinion, hence the interest of politicians.

It's not a statistic because a statistic is based on an observable fact correlated with a dependent and an independent variable.

This is an opinion poll which has less probative value than a statistic. Opinion polls are not as carefully designed as a statistical experiment and are easier to manipulate than a statistic.

With all due respect I disagree. to me taking something with a grain of salt means that you should be skeptical. It means that you should suspend judjment until further proof (or disproof) is obtained. Check other sources and if a trend emerges then form your conclusion.

Being suspicious means to distrust something without any or with very slight evidence.

"Taking things with a grain of salt" is one of those folksy sayings that my grandma used. In her usage, it meant that she had not verified the truth of what she was saying. My grandma rocked!

Well, what about in Michigan ? I heard that in Michigan there's 27% unemployment. No job. :hmm:

I don't see how any of this is goin' to help ? :-\

that's not really Obama's problem. You'll have to ask Michigan government to fix its own mess.

That's true...at least 50% is better than nothing.

Still relying on those polls that the OP admitted himself are unreliable and invalid.

times are tough...and that plays a roll in people's approval of president....also once again. a president can't just do anything they want......they don't have total power.
tough times started just before election...a lot of this disaproval could be directed at bush...imagine if he had a third term...and in this situation....ha...he would be about 5 percent.
