Hear, hear! (No pun intended!)
With all due respect, this forum has been flooded with other threads of a different nature that everyone's sick and tired of, so this is no exception. Read what you want to read, and ignore the rest. One of the mods has already addressed this in another thread, pretty much to the effect of what I just said. As for this particular subject, there are some of us, including myself, who are indeed interested in advancing technologies.
Couldn't agree with you more on the interest, AlleyCat. But press releases don't do much to advance our knowledge.
AMEN!!!!! Hearing loss is NOT THAT big of a deal.but lets put stem cells to a better use than trying to cure deafness.
I'm sorry if that offended people (not my intention, really!), but it drives me bonkers to see anything touted as a "cure" to fix something that isn't broken to begin!

There are FAR more better things to research for trying to find a cure.
disagree with your position. Press releases about the latest developments, recent progress, the latest technology, we will indicate where to progress. For example if you draw a model of cochlear implant would not be willing to share the news, the press release?
Yeah. I didn't mean to offend anyone by what I said, but hearing loss can be adapted to. I think stem cell research is awesome, but it shouldn't be forced on people as a cure for something that isn't really seen as that big of a hinderance to them.

Press releases have no scientific merits. They are released by biotech companies to drive the hypes in order to scare competitors. So basically all they are is laying claim to field and tell other companies: "stop your research now! We are doing this, and we might be patenting it soon, so your research will be useless if you choose to pursue it!"
If you want some real information on stem cell technology, please use a scientific database. JSTOR is a good place to start. Anyone who have access to a computer at a post-secondary institute can gain access to a myriad of databases to look up papers and journal articles.
