was good to see it televised.
4th game nba finals
i thought they might rip us off like when they had marlee do the superbowl and not televise her signing..
anyway

he could of done better...tsk tsk..
slacker....'-0

That's nice of him to do that. He may be cute, but I prefer blonde guys.

Hmm couldn't hear it so can't tell if his signing was in sync with the singing or not. Captioning - live captioning tend to be notorious for being slow and behind a step or two.

I thought his signing was fine. Each deaf person who has signed the Star Spangled Banner over the years have their own interpretation and signing style of it.. just like the hearing singer (who can forget Roseanne Barr's butchering of it....).

Did he sign "brave " before the singer? I noticed he signed it twice .

Yeah, I saw that too. I assumed he was a bit ahead of the singer and did it again rather than just stand there doing nothing.

The signing was a little ahead of the singing. Since the crowd was singing along, I think the pace of the vocals was a little slower than usual, so maybe that's why he got ahead of them.

It's a common practice when interpreting songs to repeat a line if necessary to "fill in" when the signers and singers aren't in synch for whatever reason, or the vocalists are holding the last note excessively long. Not as commonly done with the Star-Spangled Banner since that is frozen text but not out of the realm of possibility.

Thanks Reba! I do vaguely remember him saying something about how his signing was a bit ahead of the singer- I am guessing there was another interpreter off to the sign signing TO him or a teleprompter or something.

Doubt it's the first time a deaf person signing a song or interpreter getting ahead of the singer- especially if they already know the song lol.
