NYC keeps it's rude image.

What the cab driver did was outrageous. That distance is less than the width of my yard! I'm guessing that when the passenger first got in the cab the driver told him that the destination was further away than 75 feet. That is, it was a scam from the get go.
 
TCS, it kind of reminds me of the "ride" offers you got when you landed in Ukraine, alone, missing luggage, no common language, and very shifty-looking cab drivers.

I have a feel that pig of a cab driver got away this before. The poor guy , I bet he was sorry for coming here.

Oh, he's not really a cab driver because he has no license for it.

“These guys are like cockroaches. The public mistakenly thinks these people are just taxi drivers but they are predators. They target travelers leaving airport,” a police source said.

Walker was charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault, and unlawful solicitation of ground transport, cops said.

He has a handful of prior violations for illegally picking up fares at the same airport, police sources said.

This has nothing to do with NYC and it's behavior, they're really no better or worse than anyone else if we're being honest. This story is all about the driver being a dangerous SOB. It says more about the company that hired him than the city he's driving in. Anyone that hires a taxi should expect service no matter how brief the ride...and the price should be fair. When they get into the car tell them the flat rate rather than inflate the cost. I felt so horribly for the poor man - what an introduction to America.....I'm glad he was caught. I can only wonder how many others he scammed prior to this....
