Oh wow, it looks like buildings that used for Olympics in Atlanta and Los Angeles were not abandoned.

That's what I don't get- why don't the cities who have hosted repurpose those buildings etc somehow? Good can come out of it... renovate for better housing or something, add schools, renovate to create businesses...

Eventually I wonder if the Olympics will just wind up being held in ONE place ALL the time....

From my understand that China are very eager to doing Olympic or World Cup. Their plot to wipe out the slum village. That's how their first olympic, their wish came true to wipe em' out.

Oh wow, it looks like buildings that used for Olympics in Atlanta and Los Angeles were not abandoned.

Also US hosted World Cup and use exist mega stadiums (most are football's). That's how we save money.

Have you hear about Qatar hosting for World Cup 2022? They don't have stadium and hired other country for cheap labor with less human right. That's horrible.

Respond to #1, most area are slum village. They do not have permission to live there. Therefore, government have right to wipe out anytime.

And any cities here in US know how to turn profit without loss and able to use events for anytime than just Olympic. Plus, we have plenty mega stadiums perpare host than anywhere in world (behind the well-develop country. Ex. England).

No, it is business really. It is very expensive to maintain building over period of inactivity which is wasting money, and by the time another host, they have to spend a plenty to upgrade whatever, or even worse demolition them and rebuild to meet the requirements and it is needed to attract tourism and fans. So, the cost involved is beyond their ability to afford.

Everything requires maintenance and updates to keep up the trends. We can't predict beyond 5 years.
