Hi there everyone,

I'm a hearing person who fell upon the Deaf community by way of taking ASL in my college. I love the community, the people are wonderful and I am looking to expand my sign language capabilities. I am entering into the medical profession as a doctor one day and feel it's important to be able to help out the Deaf community with translation if/when needed. I'm happy to have found this forum and wish everyone a Happy New Year. Oh yeah, I live in Sebring, Florida.

Welcome! I live in Cullman Alabama so we are a ways apart but I am learning sign because I am very HOH and was a nurse. I am learning sign now and hope to join back into the hospital area of nursing one day as an interpretor or somehing for the deaf and HOH patients. I do miss working in the hospital.

Welcome to AD, it will be wonderful to have someone like you to help out. I am hard of hearing. I do that with my friends and my hubby if they don't understand someone.

Hi and :welcome: to AD! Glad that you are learning ASL and planning on using it in your career. Would sure help a lot of deaf people in wherever area that you practice.

Welcome. The medical community is in need of doctors who are able to communicate effectivley with their deaf patients. You will definatley be an asset.

Hello and welcome to Alldeaf! Sure nice to see how you sense the importance of relaying/communicating with the Deaf community in any way you're able to. Wish you the very best on your journey into your medical studies, etc.,...and also, hope you'll enjoy your stay here in AD-- :)
