Hey y'all, I'm a current asl student and I love the language. I've never actually had any real life s experiences using the language besides the occasional guest signer who comes to our class to talk. I feel that the only way I can actually understand the language is if I put myself out there in the community and sign with people who use this language on a regular basis.
