Hey everybody. I'm a 23 year old from Jersey who wants to dive further into your culture. I'm so happy that I found this forum. I've always wanted to be involved with a community that so often feels left out. I'm a really quiet person and will only talk when necessary. Sometimes I'll even sign when I can't verbally speak my mind (even if others don't understand me).
But my main reason for joining is because I want to read all of your stories and life experiences. I'm sure they'll mean a lot to me because I'm so often unheard myself. So I'm hoping to be able to connect with everyone, I'm a very open-minded person.
I can hear, sadly. I know not many hearies would admit that, but it's true. There's a lot of baggage that comes with hearing and it hurts to have to acknowledge it..especially around outwardly ignorant people. So I've been interested in learning ASL for a few years now and I'm finally in the right state of mind to continue to grow and progress with it. Right now I only know a little over 20 words.
And I look forward to meeting people here, so don't ever hesitate to send me an e-mail or IM me on AIM.
