Some good ways to start learning basic ASL is checking out the website www.lifeprint.com and Bill Vicars on YouTube. You can also ask questions on the r-ASL group on Reddit. If there is any course nearby, you may be interested in checking them out. I don't live in America, so I don't know which courses exists. I would recommend you learning combining ASL courses, watching YouTube videos, using websites and meeting people who knows sign language in real life. Example finding a deaf event. I'm currently learning a different sign language and I've combined all of these methods.
