Some may know my hub is getting new HA's - his are dual digital Resounds for complex use < multiple programs for various music, work, other hobbies that involve noise>. His are very old by technological standards but because he is very technical, he's been able to nurse them along.
So this conversation about new aids also brought up if I could use some.
He noticed I was turning up the volume on the car radio a lot more. He likes loud music but it was more than he expected. He remembers the period when we were in college when most everything was too loud for me. So we're considering it. I became aware that my hearing was different maybe 6 years ago; prior to that, as I said - seemed like everything was too loud and I wore earplugs in movies. We went to see his previous HA dispenser who found a mild loss. Since then we've had several major financial things including the whole disaster that was selling the old house and moving - and he's needed new aids since before we first became aware of anything different with my hearing.
I'm going to investigate about HA's for me. I'm going to try and find an audi who can also determine CAPD as I've always had many of the issues for that.
There is also an audi I found listed around here whose background descrption says that her grandparents were involved in the deaf community and that's how she became interested in the field. So she may sign some or remember a little. Although my signing is poor, it would be great to see an audiologist who values ASL.
