Well this is really cute, I do believe it's borderline going against the ADA rules.
I've recently been watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, one episode was missing subtitles, this is alright. It's not that bad, then I move onto Angel which has cross-overs and interacts with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Everything was fine, they had subtitles up to late season 1, then season 2-3 had absolutely NONE -- you can imagine how alienated and bummed out I felt, I decided to attempt to contact them and guess what... They removed the e-mail service and did phone only to be more 'customer friendly' this is extremely lame. I am not about to miss 2 seasons worth, also this is a show that is several years old so they should have subtitles. I do not use relay, now first of all lacking subtitles for equal viewing of all sort of folks, hearing or hearing impaired this is unfair.
Now, removing the ability to email them and making the only way to contact them come from phone calls? That's definitely not providing equal access. I'd really love to complain, but what good would it do writing this in a review regarding the series? They ban/censor your ability to use the word "Netflix" in the reviews. It feels immature to even do that, but there's only one email and it's really hidden from general contact and I had to google it.
Their email is netflix@email.netflix.com I'd suggest every single one of you write them and tell them that this is NOT acceptable and I'm almost certain it's against the Americans with Disabilities Act. They should have a way to contact them regarding subtitle requests, they also should have subtitles for every season. I can deal with missing 1-2 episodes, even if it is not right. Ultimately Netflix needs to change their ways and cater to the deaf as well by attempting to get all their streaming series subtitled. My best shot to watch the series with subtitles is get DVDs sent to me, but... I shouldn't have to be limited to that. I should be entitled to have subtitles on streaming video as well.
This isn't just about the series I've been watching, but Netflix as a company, and it is in poor taste and handling on their part. Help?
