Netflix speeds lag for Verizon users amid dispute

With the growing numbers of streaming videos, it hogs up the bandwidth. I have not been using Netflix on the phone but used youtube once a while and haven't had any lag issues. Some people abuse the bandwidth which could be why Verizon throttle down the speed.

I don't know about what article saying about cellular network or home network.

For cellular network, yes, 3G and LTE continue to getting congested but smartphone sales are growing so fast as usage of bandwidth increases, so Verizon supposed to expand the bandwidth regularly like Korean and Japanese ISP did.

For home network, I think bandwidth are fixed per subscriber like if subscriber order 50 mbps so they get 50 mbps max. DSL bandwidth are fixed per subscriber too. I have no problem with Netflix on DSL.

Verizon has tiered data so customers can face overcharge for use a lot of data. I never use Netflix on cellular network because I don't want to pay overcharge per GB.

Verizon cares about maximum profit with minimum service as possible.

I have no problems with Netlflix with my Comcast cable either. As for mobile cellular, the faster bandwidth, means people can use streaming and video conferencing (VP, FaceTime, ooVoo, Skype, etc) and is more handy and it takes a lot to keep up from a network tower to feed data to several people in the same area.

We may see next generation 5G coming, 6G, so on... the speed will keep growing in the coming future.

There are more people use Verizon LTE as replacement for home network - that's bad idea, IMO.

They shouldn't be worried about bandwidth. They're already overcharging for what they provide.
