How did your CI surgery go and what CI brand did you choose? When is your activation date?

Really? That's interesting. I didn't know the Freedom used the Contour Advance electrode. I wonder how that differs from my N24 Contour Advance? At any rate, I'm so glad your surgery went well and I apologize for making you feel like you were being brought down to the principal's office.
ncff07,
Question. You said that you "read" information about your surgery. Does that mean you received your medical records? I never received mine for either of my CI surgeries, but I think I'm going to request them. I know I have a right to them, so I'm going to e-mail my CI audi and surgeon about this as soon as I get home (I'm not at home right now) where I can get their e-mail addresses.
ncff07,
When is the big A-Day? (activation)
Hear again, I am also confused with what implant i have, On my records (the folder they keep at CI centre) on top says my name, CI patient no, type of implant = nucleus freedom contour advance 24, whereas on my card says CI24RE, and I am told I got the latest implant. Seems there is different types of Implant OR names of same implant???
im confused now too. i checked my info card i got with the model number and it says "CI24RE (CA)"
I'm going to e-mail Linn Tearney at Cochlear to see if she can explain why our latest implants have the letters CA after it when we have the Freedom.

I tried to answer your question the CI24RE is the freedom version of the N24 Contour Advance CI24R (CA) just means the Contour Advance. The array is the same for both while the freedom version has some additional electronics. there has been four different types of internal implants for Cochlear.

I had someone read my ID card earlier and it states my first CI's serial number with the letters "CI" preceeded by a 6 digit number, but there is no CI model number written down.
