Which aid would you say was better quality? Are they both digitals? Whats the max db you get with them??

I asked my audie 2 weeks ago about this and he says both HAs are great but the Naida has more features, including transposition/soundrecover that would benefit me more. Both HAs can give up to 80db gain with the Sumo capable of 3-5db more gain in the low frequencies. You will find out more in a few days when you see your audiologist for a HA test unaided and aided and ill be able to offer advice upon seeing your numbers. Im off to play chess so ill chat later. But ill reply here between games.

I know several people who haven't had very good experiences with the Naida.

However, I've never tried it myself, so I can't comment either way.

I have used Oticon hearing aids since 1985 though and can tell you that they are of excellent quality. The Oticon 380Ps that I've had continue to work after 19 years and did not require a single repair during the 15 years I wore them.

I love my Sumo's. I have the analog one's though since I didn't care for the digital ones.

I've never tried the Sumos, but I didn't really much care for the Naida when I tried it out for 3 months. Too many problems with it, wasn't always working right, sounded different, was too weird, even struggled to understand speech in different settings (and music sounded horrible!). Plus I couldn't get used to having to open the battery door to turn the HA off and closing the door to turn HA on, I hated it! I thought it was nearly impossible to open the battery door with just 1 hand, bah. No, I like HAs with on/off switchs. I just wasn't as happy with the Naida as I thought I would be, and it was just far too frustrating trying to work with my former audie. I'll just stick with Phonak's Supero, which I think is just as powerful as it has a lot of DB/volume on it, just doesn't have all the fancy-shmancy features like the Naida. I'll keep Supero for right ear, and look into getting a cochlear implant for my left dead ear. :)

Same here.....I have never tried the Sumos, but am about a year in using the Naida V UP aids. My only current complaint is the ear molds do not last more than a year before I have to replace them. I have a ski slope loss starting from 90 to 110....

as for having the aids turned off, you can add a program to turn the aids off by muting the sound....then pull the battery door open to air it out as well as actually turn it off when you remove your aids...I don't use it because I use all my programs for other uses....

Not too many audis like messing with the naidas...I'm fortunate to have a good audi that cares about my well being :) (I think I had the Naidas tinkered about 10 times before I decided I had it just right-about 7 of those were by the Phonak reps)
