Hi ya Aders,

There was other night that I watched something might be horrifying on the TV news and there was something that parents are worrying about. I am no expert on this. I don't have any children. I am close to alot of deaf teens and I do worry. But I am wondering what is your feeling about this. You can click on these websites.

I am one of the members of www.myspace.com I thought it was a great tools for meeting old high school mates or old friends...and keeping in touch with someone that I know. I didn't realize that there are so many teens (under 18) are using myspace.com It is probably one of the fads today for the teens. Some were reported that teens were finding something that their parents/teachers would not approved (such as profanity, nudity, hazing or soft porn) , some of them were hurt or killed. ( I'd need to find the sources about that). The thing is I would like to hear your input about this website. Do you agree or disagree? Hope you can share your input! ;)

These articles made me mad and alittle concerned as an uncle!!!! I am an uncle to 10+ kids.

I will have to show my mom, my sister and my brother this posting and have my family check it out.

My family works very hard to keep the kids safe.

Those kinds of websites are supposed to be a safe place for the kids to hang out on the internet.

This is a good find and you may just have saved lives today with these articles.

Thank you and God Bless....

I understand where you're coming from on this, I'm a parent of a 15 years old who use the computer to chat with his friends and even look up at some games or music on line, I've found out that he had joined www.myspace,com by his friends who send him an invations to join their friendship ring but I made him removed himself off that web site, because I do not want my 15 years old be known on the interent by strangers that he does not know, beside anyone could fake an ID and get information on your child, etc, also knowing that there are sex offenders who prey on children in order to get information on them so that they can fool a child by pretending that they're from his old school or someone he may know....

I had let my son know the danger of putting information on line and joining web site such as myspace, tickles, etc etc....where you can find your old classmate or friends that you no longer in touch with, but that not always the case where you will be able to find your friends, people can easy lie on the interent to the point where they could get your child in serious harm by tricking them in a way that they will fall for it quicker than adults would....

I've seen on the news before about children being fooled by sex offenders on line by pretending their ages and make them fly down to meet them and they never return home.....I think its important that each parents teach their children not to give out too much information when theyre on line and also when they're in any web sites or chat rooms, I made sure my son is not to go in any chat rooms without my permission , yeah you could say I'm one strict mother.....It's better being safe than having to worry about who your child may be talking to.... etc...

Yeah ... my niece who is about 21 yrs old... sometimes I feel like.. Cheelllsseeaa just close your eyes!! But it is not my place to do that. She is old enough. But I do worry about my other nieces/nephews (over 58) and some of them do know how to use internet. I pray that my siblings knows how to teach their children about safety or not let them to join any of networking website.

Myspace.com founder was using this networking for music s purposes. But it went too far. I remember when I was setting up an email for my nephew which he was about 10 yrs old. He had to ask me to supervise so I thought it was pretty cool However kids can go on without letting their parents/guardin know about it. It can be scary. One of my friends' sister was about 10 yrs old and she got involved with phone and internet networking. Boy, was she so rebellious! Her mom and sisters were looking for her for days. THinking the thought of her being dead. It was scary moments for her. Then the phone rang... ack... that girl called and said HI MOM I am in New York City. Her hometown was in Utah! Imagine that? She could have been killed or hurt... or raped. I just can't stand the thought of that.

SO.... I am disappointed in myspace.com for not protecting.....HOWEVER it is parents/guardian's responsiblity, which you were making yourself sense. You were only doing it to protect your child. I would have been too.

I also watched that show and also the Dateline show aired last Friday. It horrified me, especially the Dateline show.

I am never going to let my daughters join myspace.com or any other similiar networking sites period. So many predators are attracted to sites like myspace.com because they can view pictures and read personal information about each person. They could lie about their age or who they are or their pasts and lure young children into danger.

I do not let my girls have their own AIM or MSN screennames because I do not want them to be preyed on by strange men online, pretending to be at their ages, etc.

To be frankly honest, it is damn scary to be a mother of two preteenaged daughters these days. :thumbd: I actually cry sometimes thinking/worrying about potential dangers that my daughters may be in these days.

Oh I bet. Of course I haven't been in your shoes since I have no children. But I have a heart for children who could learn such evil things. I can't bear a thought of seeing/hearing about children are being tricked by predators. I got to admit I do have numberous nieces/nephews, I was afraid for them when they were using internet.

I am fanatic fan of Laws and Orders:SVU... so many stories about children are being killed, raped, stalked and etc.. you name it. There were few stories that talked about children were abducted by someone who talked to them from the internet. I get so tense about it. Of course I cried so hard and bearing a thought of any of children would fall for that....or being kidnapped. It is so disgusting when people who could thought of that. My husband and I are going to try to have a baby soon. But.. I got to admit, I am scared what if my child will go thru like that? Fortunately, my husband and I already have talked about some rules, expections, what if/what would we do? discussions. It kind of helped me but right now it hasn't happen yet...I do have a fear for my nieces/nephews and future children.

THanks for your input, Gemtun.

If you watched the Dateline show last Friday, you would be VERY horrified like I am now. It has not left my mind since seeing the show. I was very down over the weekend. I could not get the show out of my mind. It was a sickening program on online predators. Dateline set up a 3 day trap to see if they could lure predators to a 12 year old kid's house. 51 men showed up over 3 days, bringing alcohol and some even with Viagara, thinking that they were going to have sex with a 12 year old kid!!!

Fifty out of 51 men got arrested by police. Fifty one men came from wide variety of lifestyles, race, religion, socioenocmics and ages. Youngest was 18 and the oldest was a balding 69 year old man. So sickening....

By the way- most of these men were from myspace.com.

Excuse my French but I have to say this - :fu2: to thesse online predators.

Ok... I think you have explained enough. My stomach is alredy upset. Ahh. How could these men have done those things? For what reasons? I just don't get why they have to torture those innocents when they are trying to live?

I got to admit, I am a member. All my account setting are protected by filthy people. My husband was a member and he get stalked by prostitute women and asking them to see their naked pictures. It was so gross! Even a woman knew his wife was. She goes and stalked me. Saying that my man wanna have sex with her and wanna divorce me. Sick huh? We both thought of deleting our accounts and not able to use 'em again but we didnt want to love the touch with our familes, friends and classmmates. Finally we had to set our account to be protect and blinded who are not on our friends lists.

Hopefully it'll work, if not, then we will remove our account with no question.

Scary....

This is scary........ it could happen to our families/friends!! Heath is right, it would be wise if we just give warnings about their children.

From Dateline blogs....

I am so glad you are doing this story. My niece is posting sexually explicit photos of herself along with blogs about drinking and having sex. She is now 19 so her dad probably can't do anything about it anymore. But she has been doing this since she was 16. I wanted to alert her dad but he doesn't speak to us and would only "kill the messenger" if we went to him. My husband says we will wait until we see her face on a milk carton and then tell him. Not only does she put her full name on MySpace but also her city and state. Any predator could find her if they wanted to. That is what worries me. I just hope her father watches the show but he, like many other parents, will probably think this stuff doesn't even pretain to them. --Becky Provan, Scurry, Tex.

I used to be in Ringo a few years ago and in the beginning I had so much fun with finding my lost old friends but then when strange men started to send me messages that turned me off. It was then I came to realize that it was no good to be in Ringo and other sites where my profile can be seen by millions of people. It is scary to think about what can happen to my two little girls when they get to grow older and go on internet. I will make sure they will not join in any of these.

WOW, same here , I removed my account from Ringo and Tickles cause many people can see my profile and know so much about me too and it was caused too much problems for me....

Now I am no member in any web sites but only the map thing, I can't remmy the name of it

I don't have a myspace.com account and the closest thing I got to an account which is at www.freewebs.com for Deaf Self Defense which I put up alittle after 9/11/01 and is primarily geared towards Deaf adults and those who graduated from Deaf school and are over 18 + years old due to the self defense information. You can visit my homepage in my profile.

If someone harmed my nephews or nieces in anyway whatsoever.

That sick f*cker is dead. No questions about it, man !!!

Do not mess around with Deaf people !!!!

Yeah Ringo/Tickles are somewhat overrated. I don't use them anymore. I still use myspace.com which it has been set privacy blocks. That s one thing I like about it.... except I have the control and common sense not to fool around. My hubby will kill me. heh. My future children will not be joining any of web networking sites at all!!!

I grew up with a wonderful family with love and education. I spent a lot of times playing outside and doing a lot of outdoor activities. We would invent a lot of activities. In Utah, we had a lot lot lot of snow. We could build a bobsled slide. (I had a huge hill yard) So, I don't stay inside most of the times. That kind of childhood I want for my children. It was very healthy. Rather than having children to spend too much of time on the computer, that is unhealthy. Yikes. ( I don't mean to be such a hyprocite, I know from my experience, I spent my time online, it was such a waste of times. I would use 'em while my timing is worthy.)

if i have a kid then i am very close to watch to kid and dont get in dangerous... u know out of world are

Where I am from, there are a lot of teenagers who are on my friends' list. Before I found out about the danger of Myspace.com I didn't realize that a girl who are on my list is about 12 yrs old but she is saying that she is 16 yrs old. But that is disgusting, even her own parents aren't aware for her doing. So I am trying to find my courage to talk to her parents. I've known that girl since she was 8 yrs old. That is really scary!
