My rant about videophones, cable internet, 56k ISPs, phone lines and dumb peeps!

Idiots! I just don't understand some Deaf people. I am tired of hearing my 56k-connected Deaf friends complain their internet is slow and they couldn't afford cable internet. They whine about there is no freaking way they can use a videophone because they couldn't "afford to pay" for cable internet. Hello?!? They can afford it! Okay, I will make this easy for those dumb peeps, friend or not.. Here's the math I did:

  • Phone line service runs about 30 to 35 bucks a month PLUS long distance charges.
  • Subcribing to the top 56k dial-up internet service provider runs about 25 bucks a month.
  • High-speed cable internet runs about 45 bucks a month.
  • Getting a videophone is free through www.s-vision.com.
  • Any long distant calls made through the Video Relay Service are FREE.

Okay, now it is obvious that paying 35 plus 25 equals 60 dollars is too much to pay for a slow-ass internet and phone connection! Everyone who used the videophone knows this: TTYs are a thing of the past! A free videophone with free long distant calls and a $45 cable internet service beat the slow-ass deal! Get with the program!

Let's not forget that there are also cable internet that can be subscribed for as low as 25 dollars, maybe 20 in some areas.

They're known as Lite High Speed Cable/DSL services with some limitations to it, but should be better than the 56k services.

$25? $20? Wow, that's cheap. To get broadband around here, expect to pay $40+ a month. The company I work for recently established a video phone system for their deaf and hard of hearing customers. I think it's really cool, and I'm thinking of applying at Sorenson to get my free friggin' video phone. :thumb:
