You have a moderate hearing loss. How well do you hear unaided? At what distance can you hear voices? Do you still hear everyday environmental sounds without HAs? I assume you still hear pretty well if my 2002 aided audiogram is any indication, I was hearing 35db at 250Hz, 50db at 500Hz, 60db at 1000Hz, 65db at 2000Hz, NR above. This is pretty much the same as what you hear unaided now! Well actually it's worse since I have no high frequency hearing and also your quality of hearing is better since you more hair cells.

Look better than is

Unaided cannot hear the TV of My alarm clock (wife wakes me up). The phone has been my enemy for years (I work in customer service go figure). My new aids help alot but my ENT tells me more loss coming my way as I age (36 now). May need a CI or stem cells by age 50.

I never was able to understand phones in my life. Without HAs, from how far away can you hear someone talking? What kind of sounds do you hear with a moderate loss? I am curious and want to know what to expect as my own hearing with stem cells could be similar to what your hearing currently is. Ive never heard much without HAs and am wondering if ill hear enough not to need HAs part time.

Are those scores with or without HAs? If they are with HAs, id suspect you may have a large cochlear dead region(areas of infinite hearing loss), it would explain why your speech is so low with only a moderate hearing loss. Your speech scores between the ears is similar despite your left ear being much better in the highs. Your loss at 2000Hz doesn't seem deep enough to be very likley for a cochlear dead zone but one can't be sure. You could try the piano thud test:

Unaided scores

Those word scores were unaided (have not had aided tested with new aids yet).

My New Aids Evaluated

My progress with my new aids get evaluated tomorrow. To descride my unaided hearing 1. uniaded everthing is both kind of quiet & at times even though I hear people speaking the words ar distorted (causing me to respond inappropriately). 2. This seems to have started in childhood (I would always have the TV up too loud & speak loudly). I was not diagnosed until age 22.

I understand about the phone being your enemy. I can use the phone, but holy cow, it can be pure torture without VRS if I can't understand the other person. Good thing I don't have to pick up the phone when they call, but can call them back. :)

As for the alarm clock, if you haven't already, you may want to look into a vibrating alarm clock. I use the Sonic Boom with the bed vibrator option.
