The sound quality is horrible , and is been freezing up on me! It just froze up me ! I just tried to listen to Landslide and the song kept stopping. I am pissed off! I want to bring it back but not sure want brand computer to get my last one was a DELL.

This sounds like it could be a software issue, which means the make and model of the computer is not to blame. What muic-playing software have you used?

I asked the saleman at Staples about the computer speakers and he said I could made it louder and add my old speakers if I wanted to. The saleman lied to me or had no idea what he was talking about! My computer did not come with speakers and my DELL speakers would not work with it. I had to buy new speakers , we called Staples and they wanted me to go back to NH to buy speakers from them, I got them from a store right near my home. I can understand what being said a lot better now .

Cool.. could have saved yourself the hassle if you'd built your own PC. Easy and cheaper too :)

I wish I knew how to do that. The only person that know a lot about computers live in Las Vegas which is no where near me.

There is no reason the speakers would not work, unless you have a woofer system that requires a different jack. The speakers should use a regular headphone jack or an audio jack.

Are the speakers digital? Do they not have the same jack? There is a difference in sound between digital and analog components.

Are you using a sound card? The sound card itself or the driver could be the issue.

There is a lot to this, but there are some good articles that you can actually follow to the letter. The hardest things are cooling, power supply as well as slot types for different CPU chips. You can't just look up things, they all have to go together.

Here is one article:
Build a PC on Any Budget: Three Builds from $500 to $2000 | Maximum PC

Keep in mind, you really don't save too much money these days(companies do it very cheap), but what you get are upgradeable parts that you want instead of what the company wants to gives you.

Then Staples lies to us when called yesterday! My daughter was told my old DELL speakers may not be compatible to my HP computer, so we went to Radio Shack and brought new speakers and the sound quality is better. I really do not know enough about to computer. What really pissed me off was the salesman at Staples telling me the computer had speakers when it had none! The manger at Staples was upset about this as they lost a sale, the manger tried to get my daughter to go his store in NH , my daughter came to my house right from work and we where not going to driving to NH again.
Once this computer dies, I am not buying any more! They're not worth all the trouble!

Just think this way, it is retail store and the salesman your talking gets paid by minimum wage or maybe a little more and has limited knowledge. No retailers would want pay more for somebody expert in something but mainly trying to sell stuff.

#1 I have to disagree that it is cheaper to build your own computer. They both are basically the same. I would agree if we are still in 20th century. I do build computer and still know how to build them.

#2, the PC market is now dying! It is fact, less people want to buy desktop nowadays, hence referring to #1 above. Micro$oft isn't doing great with OS anymore, and they are making worse. My son asked me to upgrade his computer. I checked and it is not worth the investment and I actually checked whats available off the shelve or just build one and I ended up get same cost. WTF?

#3 Anything wrong with that fruit that got a bite by Steve Jobs?

Yeah, really not that much benefit either way really and speaking of cost wise the savings is just a drop in a bucket.

I know a lot people use smartphones and ipod now, but I know I will forget where I left a smartphone or drop it and not hear it fall. I just feel a salesperson should at least know more about the product they're selling like if a computer has speakers or not. I wish I had came here before buying a new computer.

I disagree with this because I truly believe what is going on today will not last. Once people realize that all these throw away tablets are costing them more money, they will try to find ways to save money. Completely solid state devices are not a good thing, IMO. It may be that we may have to go all the way back to soldering in new drives, but it is certain that people do not have the money to buy new hardware every two years. Most of that cost is probably being put on credit card charges.

I just bought a HP convertible laptop that I think will last me 10 years, my last one lasted me 12.

I understand your perspective. What happened to Kodak? Its actually out of customer based business. Not many people realize this.

PC business are in dying, And there just announced a huge drop in PC sales. See this link HP and Microsoft tumble after worst PC sales drop - Apr. 11, 2013

Of course PC will be here for a good while, but eventually will be gone just like Chemical based photography.
