I was born profoundly deaf and I started Speech Therapy age 7 and it is where I started learn ASL(American Sign Language). I attended mainstream schools in childhood but start at high school I went to a school for people with disabilities. About 80% had disabilties and I were in a program for deaf or hard of hearing with an itinerant teacher for the deaf for 7 years that i was there, and she used Sign language a lot as i needed a lot of interpretation of English language, then i went to adult education and took more English courses and after three years I finally got my diploma. I was happy in my final semester at that school I didn't have any helper with me in classes and i managed very well. ASL is my first language and have done English as a second language but i have come very far and wanted show you all my great story!!

I thought writing was your first language. I also believe that Canada is very pro inclusion and doesn't really have one of those magnet programs for kids with disabilties......even dhh regional programs can be hard to find.

and if there was a program specificly for dhh kids, why was there an iteirenant teacher? The staff would have been teachers of the deaf, and you wouldn't have needed an itenriernat (which is for solotaire mainstreamed kids)(

deafdyke I will re explain........I went to a Special Education school for 7 years and I had services for deaf/hoh on my IEP and had specific sessions with a Itinerat teacher of the deaf who visit with me to help with language and in class and they had offer some regular courses from it. I must said it wrong. I wasnt at a deaf school, but had a lot deaf services and a lot ASL since i know very much. When i say "program" I mean with my IEP i VISIT with small sessions with other deaf kids in the school and we all together worked at language skills with a itinerant teacher who speak or sign, but just one hour a day from that. some are hard of hearing and others are eaf like me. Is this better??. Is my job to said things better if it not correct a first time. I not mad just explains again lol it's okay

I have come very far with English as I have learned American Sign Language first. I attended a mainstream school there were a variety programs offered. it was a specific special education school. a lot of deaf/ hoh were at this school but from one hour a day we all did language skills and English as it were seperate from the deaf services i received. I had same Itinerant teacher of the deaf for 7 years Mrs. Fraser... deaf dyke im trying to explain better but im not mad.. English is not easy for me to write and I just want you to understand but i work had from it. I am just trying to explain that's all.
