My boss at work named Andrea. Andrea does not seem to like me as the other bosses do. I think she does not like the fact that I am HOH. When Andrea started to be the major boss at work, I told her that I could teach her some ASL. Since then, I feel she does not respect me much.

I get back and shoulder pain when I lift very heavy items at work. I do not find Andrea as approachable as the bosses. Due to her "unapproachableness", I am clueless about how to tell Andrea about my back and shoulder pain. I have been thinking about writing her a letter explaining the back and shoulder pain. Do you think this is a good idea?

Do you have anyone else at work that u feel comfortable with? If so, maybe ask them for their opinion?

In my opinion, I think writing a letter is a good move. Does your job require u to lift heavy things most of the time?

Just a suggestion, don't name your boss. Trust me, you can get fired for that.

Look for another job just in case things don't work out with this major boss as a last resort or next resort, whichever you feel is best. Then you can write another letter explaining why it didn't work out, do name names... *snickers* Just remember, you didn't get the boss into trouble.. she got herself into trouble with misusing her authority to show unprofessional and unwarranted displease and it's her own damn fault.

Just in case this is a misunderstanding, maybe your boss didn't realize you felt this way... and could be happy to talk with you about it. She might not mean to make you feel bad. It could be worth a shot to ask her about your injury, and watch her reaction. Then report a bad reaction or overreaction to the human resource dept!

If you feel you are truly intimidated by your boss, you can see if you are being bullied and how to recognize a bully with this list.. Most people only realize they're being bullied when they read this page; what is bullying, how to recognise bullies and injury to health
Print it out and check all that applies to you. Maybe you can show it to your human resource with a letter, and don't name names.. see what they have to say about the person "bullying" you. It's likely you're not alone.. your boss probably does this to other co workers.

You need a doctor note to explain your supervisor. You can't work that position. Human Resource needs to aware of the doctor note too. HR will find you other position to avoid lift heavy objects.

I am a bagger. When I say I lift very heavy items, I mean the 12 pack of Snapple Iced Tea, the 30 lb bag of dog food, a plastic bag of 10 or more cans or a paper bag with 20 cans. There are customers who know me and they will lift the item(s) and bag(s) into the cart for me.

My friend, Tracy, thinks I should letter to my boss.

I also restructed my work schedule for the spring semester to avoid my boss as much as possible. EG: Monday and Wednesday: 5-9 pm and Friday and Saturday: 4-8 pm. She leaves at 4:30 pm everyday.

My boss is the boss everyone does not like in the Front End department.

P.S: I just ask Alex to change my boss' name in this trend.

If nothing else solves the problem, your best bet is to find another job and give the boss 2 weeks notice then move to a different job. Your health is your # 1 priority. A job does not care if you are in good or bad health. A job just cares that if you can do the job. That is it.

It is better to not get fired for something that was truly a health condition. Why add to the un-wanted punishment for yourself and your employment situation.

Seniority

:tears: I have a problem at work. I have seniority over all of my fellow baggers except three baggers. I have requested to work more hours for this semester. However, Andrea does not give me more hours but she gives the baggers with less seniority than me MORE hours. :pissed: :pissed: :pissed: :tears: :tears: :tears: I have been at the supermarket for 3.5 years. The only reason I needed to cut back on my hours in the fall was my high blood pressure but I am feeling better. I gave a letter in about requesting more hours almost three weeks ago! If the shop stewardess is in today or tomorrow, I will speak with her. If Andrea is trying to make me leave, she is very good job at it. I will get off my soap box now.
