MUN prof refuses to wear device for hearing disabled student,

HUH ??? How the HELL can wearing a device for hoh students be against her religion ? Then she better not use a smart phone or any other device to made phone calls b/c they're operated the same way ! What load of crap! :mad:
 
They never state her religious objection. Sounds like a load of bull. Bet she's just a crack pot.
 
I don't understand what in her religion prohibits wearing the device. :dunno:

In her photo she's not wearing a hijab, so that can't be the reason. Does the device have a component made of pig hide or some other pork product? Does it require the guy touching her to use it? Those are the only objections I can think of.

Is she Hindu? I know some believers won't do anything to interfere with another person's karma, and they believe that interfering with another person's disability or sickness would do that.

Other than that, I can't imagine what the problem is.
 
I couldn't find any web site about a religion prohibiting you from wearing a sound transmitting device .

Maybe she thinks the FM device is some sort of spy equipment. :hmm:

I have relatives who are Brethren, and they use modern technology like anyone else. I don't think she is anyway.
 
I pulled info from ratemyprofessor.com. A few students mentioned that she refused to use her e-mail. I guess, she is anti-tech?

If she is anti- tech she can't use a computer or smart phone etc or even going grocery shopping b/c they all kind of tech to run the store .

She rides in cars. Modern cars are way more high tech than an FM transmitter.

You got a very good point there ! I am being think she is Anti deaf and hoh and trying to use her religion to get away with it ! This sound like a discrimination case and I wish the student had filed a complaint with
ADA Act.
 
I think the professor has let the course she teaches go to her head. Perhaps the university should either require this professor or any professor to either wear an FM transmitter or tape their lectures so any student who has a hearing loss or hearing and processing disorders can take their course. The professor is obviously nuts! If she uses a cell phone the university probably has grounds to dismiss her.

there a sect of brethren who do this...Some years ago a judge who a member was drummed out because he watched tv or something like that....Near me there a sect,the little girls have long hair with yellow ribbons and will have to leave school at 16 no more education..Any electrical things are classed as from the devil
