I have recently been noticing that there has been some SELECTIVE enforcement of the rules here at AD. Several members have been acknowledging and even advertising the fact that they have been allowed to have more than one screen name, even though it is specifically against the rules here on AD. It seems rather biased that some rules are being enforced, while others are not. It also seems unfair that this practice is condoned for some members, yet not for others.

What is your take on the issue?
 
It depends on situation, if one creates multiple account to cause harm or trouble with others then that is NOT ALLOWED. If one creates multiple accounts and not causing any trouble then I don't see anything wrong. It is just too much trouble for MOD to follow around.

I have only one account and have no plan to add another one UNLESS somebody try to mess up with me.

Alex posted a disclaimer in the rule stating that if someone wants to change their screenname, just to PM him. I'm not referring to people who go about it the right way, I am just referring to those who have more than ONE screenname, which is obviously not condoned by Alex, and not supported by his rules.

Well, my take on this is.. A rule is a rule.

I think rule four clearly states we are not allowed to have multiple user names, and that was probably created for a good reason, and should be followed. However, I also think that there are cases in which a person *might need* to change their user name, and should be allowed to do so without punitive action being taken against them. I think that if a need arises for a user to use a different account, they should PM Alex and explain the circumstances. Then, change their user name if need be. However, I don't believe a person should be allowed to do it 'just for the hell of it'. It's too confusing for us to have someone using more than one user name. Think of the confusion we would have, if say 5 people, used five different accounts. We'd never figure out who was who!
 
i dont have to explain everything about that, but i strongly agree with diehard and oceanbreeze. from my experience with the forums, i prefer one account, period.
 
I don't agree w/multiple user names because everyones will confused who really person..

I'd rather ONE user name on this site peroid... no further discussion!

If you're still in multiple user name, you'll be in deep trouble... *seriouis case*
 
Totally agree with you all, I dislike numberous of account as same person. Beside i did complain with one deaf club, but nothing they do about it. I think one same account is very truthful herself or himself. Alots of people always say that becuz of other person bother or not want to know, but still they need to stand up themselve, unless not as hasssment, that understandable. So, i don't know most of people here, so i'm just be careful til i get known well with this forum.
 
Multiple names seem confusing and deceptive. However, if someone gets permission from Alex to change their name, and the old name is replaced, then that is not a multiple name but a new name on an old account. Is that how it works? Or does he set up a totally new account and close the old one? :dunno:

Maybe when a person gets a new name, part of the agreement should require posting an introduction with the explaination that it is a new name for an old account.

I notice that some people really want to come back to AD bad-- that bad enough that they will get another account to come back ...
WTF?

I don't find that honest and I feel it degrades the purpose of having a public forum like this-- All Deaf. Why bother to sneak around with a false account just to stay on All Deaf even you knew you broke the rules? Grow up, this is not an elementary where you get your gold star removed if you misbehave. This won't be tolerated at a professional workplace so why are this being tolerated at a public forum?

Well there are always going to be people who want to beat the system. No matter how many rules there are, someone will find a way to break them and get by with it.

If you think one is using multiple usernames, send PMs to Alex or the Moderators. They will look into it. Everything will be kept confidential and no one will know who reported on them.

Well, if we do see someone with multiple user names... we do ask that they pick one and we delete the other. If you think someone is using multiple user names, you can PM us moderators and we'll check into it. :thumb:

Why don't you try to open another AD account? Mods would easily investigate anyone's email address, written language and IP addy....

TrippLA, are you a highly gifted young lad or just a dumb boy?

Watch for what??? How do you know they have multiple names? And if this is true, please provide their alternate names so that we CAN watch out for them.
