wow, scary for both, am glad the bear isn't hurt, probably helped him learn to stay away from people..wonder about the rider...

could've veered to the left, cleared the ass end if possible... 30 years riding experience here as well as careful braking techniques... but as with anything, quick decisions and maneuvers are a skill all its own. Not everything is avoidable.
 
Almost hit a deer doing about 50mph riding to work one time, just sprang up out of a ditch and zipped across in front of me. scary shit

I am moving back to CA and when I do my next bike will be ABS. Honda ST1100 or ST1300...
