His arrest actually opens up opportunity for anyone to take over his position, the chances are… not by one person.. May be 10 guys taking over him and will continue running the operation. His arrest will not going to solve the problem. Having ten new guys taking over will make new investigation and arrest at greater difficulty to accomplish for DEA… AND going to cost government more money on the top of expenses paid to house and guard for 'El Chapo' til he gets buried.
His arrest will not make any dent (Maybe very little, and it will be temporary) in drug market. It is the politician's dream that they destroy drug market and it is not going to happen.
That was the first think I thought of when I heard about this on the news, that other drug lords will be fighting over taking over the operation. The news reporter said this too , that there will more killing to take the guy place.
let it happen.... let them weaken themselves for the time being cripple one another and then maybe more leaders would be too crippled and be captured as well... maybe authorities would gain strength to move in and recapture territories for themselves to take back.
