I couldn't believe what I could do today.

I was at Arby's in line waiting to get some food and it was a noisy environment. I could hear both the man and the woman behind me CLEARLY without looking at them once. I could hear and understand every word they said.

Haven't been able to do that for awhile. :)

That is amazing :) I could never hear like you do, but then I have 25db worse hearing that slopes down to 50+ db worse than yours! You still have most of the high frequencies as well as only a moderate loss(except in the highest frequencies) while mine is profound above 250Hz.

Phi4Sius that's great (btw what's your real name? Just the first name, mine's Amy)
Have you talked to your audi about maybe trialing newest analog hearing aid? Phonak have some analog like pico forte 3, sonoforte? And classica.
But if your current analog work perfectly and in good shape like no stratches then don't worry about asking it but maybe new one have much longer battery life? Whatever you think.
Btw have you asked about oticon sumo xp analog for left ear to see if you get any sound from it and can be part of CI candidacy evaluation (trial it for 30 days)
Since your right ear is severe enough (60+) even if you get great clarity you should still get approved for left ear implanted to have 2 ears getting speech sound and much better at localizing sounds (like one blog about christian, the toddler have moderately severe in one ear and have hearing aid, other is profound and is implanted)
Let us know how that went

Hi Amy! Nice to meet you. The name's Brian BTW.

My right analog is working perfectly, actually. I'm hearing much more than I have in ages, even with the digitals.

My audie doesn't carry much in terms of analogs. This is the only one they could get in. But, I'm VERY happy with it and cannot believe what I'm able to hear with it that I couldn't with the digitals. My analog is in excellent shape (it's brand-new), and with the powerone 675 batteries one battery lasts 1.5-2 weeks wearing it 8-17 hours/day every day.

I'll post my experiences in another thread. Right now, everything is very weird with an HA on my left side and it will take me quite a bit to get used to!!! :O

Skullchick....on the other hand without knowing phisies' speech perception with aids, you really can't say whether or not he might be a CI canidate or not. Profound or severe doesn't nessarily mean unresponsive to hearing aids.
The toddler you're mentioning either prolly has really good health insurance (ie the type that covers hearing aids) or has a stone profound loss.

He's scoring 100% speech in the better ear. I haven't seen any insurance company that will fund for the implant for the worse ear if the better ear is much above 60% speech, let alone 100%. Of course he can always try. If I were a CI surgeon, id be willing to implant his worse ear, but he may have to pay the cost out of pocket.
