She loves it! She is already on her 3rd program. She is knocking on everything, and starting to locate the sounds. She can alread pick out a word or two. (where and movie for sure). We are so so so excited, and exhausted!
 
Oh I'm thrilled to bits and pieces for Miss Kat!

Oh I can understand the excitement of sounds, noises and so on.

This is making me excited, you know. The whole CI experience is exhilarating for me and very profound as well.

I do want to get a CI as well.
 
OMG...that is so awesome!! I can only imagine how excited you must all be. Are you gonna get any sleep tonight??? :giggle:
 
Oh that's AWESOME!!!!!! She was born with the moderate loss right? She wasn't born with a severe-profound loss, right? If so that will give her an advantage in using the CI.

Actually she was born hearing, but by 18 months had a moderate loss. In the last 3 1/2 years it has progressed from 60 db to 90-100.
 
That's just wonderful! I can't imagine what that's like to hear new sounds so it must be sooooo exciting !! :D Let us know what else she finds :)

YES! She can now turn to her name! She also watched Fantasia and was so intranced by the music. You could see the light on her BTE blink with all the sounds. She loved it. She also found a buzzer (pretty high pitched, so I doubt she would have heard it before) and while she was in the other room she would press it and make us raise our hands when we heard it. Also, she got out her play keyboard and was playing with it totally differently. She used to just bang on it for a minute and then move on. Yesterday she would press each note and just listen and then move on to the next one. She was definately hearing that each one was different and loving it!

Oh, how marvelous. Those types of CI moments make it all worthwhile. Especially when it is a child's face that you see just lighting up with joy.
 
It is very exciting to read about Miss Katt activation. I know the joys of a new experience. It is amazing that children love the simple things like banging on the piano and adults want the complex music sounds. ( I do). One key my audie gave me, they can focus on individual sounds in mapping. I have problems with th, so they can focus on that pitch. Just enjoy Miss Katt, each day is so wonderful.
