NBC and NFL Snubs Miss Deaf America, M.I.A. show her SIGN middle finger during Super Bowl Broadcast.

If you watched the Super Bowl game, you saw a lot. A great game, the creative commercials and quite a halftime show. But there is one thing you didn't see. Nowhere in the television broadcast did you see Arlington Heights native and Miss Deaf America Rachel Mazique. She SIGNED the National Anthem and "America the Beautiful. You probably didn't realize that while Kelly Clarkson, Miranda Lambert, and Blake Shelton were busy singing the national anthem and "America the Beautiful," Miss Deaf America Rachel Mazique was also on the field signing along in American SIGN Language for deaf viewers at home—that's because NBC never showed her on camera during the broadcast. However, M.I.A. had no trouble sending a message at the Super Bowl with her SIGN using flipping the bird middle finger, there was another woman at the game who never got the chance to spread her far less controversial message to the world.

This oversight has Mazique and many people in the deaf community understandably disappointed and upset. Millions of people had the opportunity to see the song signed beautifully by a young Deaf woman who had a genuine intention of nothing but getting the message across that Deaf peopJle can do anything,” the petition says. “This moment has passed by and it never can be redone again. The opportunity is gone. Young children and adults from all over the world missed the chance of seeing that Deaf people like Ms. Mazique can be successful in the real world and barriers can be broken.

The deaf community and Mazique's supporters have started an online petition demanding that NBC and the NFL issue an APOLOGY! NBC and The NFL have not respond to requests for comments. Reply to your friend and family to infom.
