middle ear implant

hi,

I was told this morning by my hearing aid dispenser that I am a ideal canidate for a middle ear implant. Thing is he seems to know very little of what is what :shock: Maybe he does but as he is Spanish it may have been lost in translation. So, I know there may be plenty of posts on here about this, could someone point me in the right direction as to what its all about and if possible a link to pictures of what it looks like. Cheers.
 
here is also a really informative site with pictures of the procedure (animated ones) and the picture of the implant etc. There is also a pic of the x-ray taken after the procedure and the implant is quite large but it's approved by FDA so that's good. chck out the website>>Middle Ear Implants
 
I saw this link before. My husband showed me of newspaper. They didn't say about profound. :(
 
thanks for the replies. What sort of costs would this be in the states as I was told it could cost up to euro 14,000 ( $21,000 ). On one the pages above it says between $6000- $ 14,000:shock: Be better for me to fly to the states and stay there to have it done :shock:

it all depends on the surgury costs will be and thats probably the biggest exspense and none of the middle ear implants really worked for people with a severe hearing loss at this time.
