Middle-aged? Put down the meat

Interesting. So does consumption of processed carbs. So who will listen anyway? Too many in a enjoy now-deal with it later-doc fetch me a magic pill mentality.

Listen to doctor, not CNN.

Those study was actually from scientists so CNN just shared their study.

Good luck with your health and the cancer is common in my family.

I would go nuts trying to keep up with the new research about what food it bad or good for you. We where told coffee was bad now it's OK to drink some coffee , and we told chocolate candy gave you pimples and now it's fine to eat a little each day. I gave up listening to all the hype and eat what I want. I don't want to live forever anyway.

I couldn't have said it better! Yes! I agree!

It never gets old getting people in triage... When the rush and panic is over, and they're in recovery... they always ask the stupid questions... "What could I have done to prevented this" Oh well gee Jim Bob, you smoke 3 packs a day, drink a 24 pack of beer a day and you're seriously asking me this?! Idiots... It is pretty common sense for the most part about what is good and bad for you but nobody will ever be perfect.

It's denial. Even I am balancing alcoholic drinks in moderation, but if we're going to make stupid decisions, we have to accept the consequences, not deny the presence of health problems when they arise. My doc once advised me, "By the time you notice something, usually it's already advanced!"

That's exactly it... to the T. People also put themselves in a state of denial where they feel a little off but think nothing of it... then, it hits full force and they're left in its wake and wondering what happened. Sad thing is most teens go on these drinking binges in college and all that stuff. They don't think anything of it until they're 33 with cirrhosis of the liver... I see it all too often... Our bodies are amazing things... but they're not super-human... :|

I never starting drinking alcohol , my dad was an alcoholic and there was a history of it on his side . My ex brother is one too. I knew If I drank I had a good chance of being an alcoholic like dad and that was the last thing I wanted to be. My older sister's daughter is an alcoholic and when she was a baby the DR. told my sister there was a risk of her daughter having a drinking problem . That was how strong the alcoholic tendencies was on dad side. It's the 'gift' that give on given. :(

My family are UKNOWN disease and I'm show slow age. :eek3:

I don't smoke or drink, and am careful about what I eat. I go regularly for my doctor appointments and follow their suggestions. Result: I'm in terrible physical shape right now and they can't tell me why. It's very discouraging.

Until my most recent lab tests I was taking a calcium + D supplement to prevent osteoporosis; now I have too much calcium so I have to quit that. My cholesterol has been going down until I started cutting back even more strictly on cholesterol and fats; now it's gone up. My potassium is too low, so I have to increase that.

One doctor told me to get more sunshine; the other one told me to stay out of the sun.

So much "health" information is contradictory; it's frustrating.

TCS doesn't pay any attention to healthy eating and he's in much better shape than me.

I do have a good life insurance policy, and a long-term care insurance policy, and a living will.

This is the reason why I'm going to just enjoy life of what I have left rather than restrict myself to so-called rules out there that may or may not work for everyone. No one knows the right answers. There are smokers that don't have lung cancer and then there are non-smokers that get lung cancer. Life is like russian roulette. Enjoy the time we have and make the best of it.

I wish I could. Physically, I'm not enjoying life. I want to find out what's wrong and get it fixed.

Yes, the health problem can be very complicated for sure.

I avoid MSG because of cause high blood pressure, but regular salt is fine.

I have to be careful about what kind of eat to avoid the GI distress and IBS flare up, especially lettuce. Sometime, I ate lettuce and I was fine, but sometime, it wasn't.

It will take years for smokers to have a lung cancer, also they suffer from other illnesses and other cancers.

The lung cancer isn't limited to consumption of tobacco only, but you can get from exposure of asbestos, secondhand smoking and pollution, or more rare heredity.
