No, most mental illness, especially bipolar and schizophrenia caused by genetics and they required to be treated with medicines, also need maintain the good life. The playing video game or watching film isn't issue if they are properly treated, but with poor treatment or lack of access, mentally ill people will goes wild and make really bad happen, so it has been existed for years before video game evolved and they originally locked up in the hospital, prior to deinstitutionalization.
The video game doesn't cause mental illness, beside of addiction in some games like World of Warcraft (WoW) and some people who had no life by played WoW all day usually died from malnutrition, so it didn't commit murder as some mentally ill people did. Without treatment, mentally ill people who are exposed to film, video game, comic, action, etc will make them goes out of control because they don't understand about what something is bad or not.
I have seen many different therapists and that how I got much experience from them. At overall, the video game doesn't make human goes out to break the law, but it does make mentally ill people so worse if not properly treated.
