I think it may be a good Idia to make a form for holiday / birthday card and gift exchange that is mebers only so crepy people can't get our address we will be able to post them for any one to send a card on our birthday or around the hoidays mabee dump it every few months to keep it up to date. or each meber have a thred with thir info an thay just up date thier own.

I don't understand Kate, You asking to set up a forum to exchange birthday cards, Christmas cards with AD members? If so, I don't think that's a good idea. People cannot be trust, even members here in AD. I had done a Christmas card exchange with some members here at AD, and one member had to give out my home address to someone else, after made a promise that she wouldn't do that, well she lied. So, I have a hard time trusting people now.

Please for your own safely don't exchange home address with nobody unless you know that person in real life. ;)

I agree with you! I don't like do exchange home address with anyone that I don't know them. Scary!

Anyone can join. What if I wasn't a member and I wanted to find out your address through Christmas card exchange, I simply register and become a member. Now, I'm in!

the only reason i thought of it i i saw peoplein this and other form post thier asddress mabee make it restricted so only aproved mebers could get acsess or something like that. i was just worried about those who posed 7their address i guess.

Yeah, the forums on the Internet are NOT a good place to post addresses; neither in PMs nor regular threads. It is really hard to tell who is on the receiving end and like was already mentioned, whether that person would release your info to others. Even for long-time posters; they could still have other motives. Gaining your confidence is one method of gaining access to your personal information.

Its really sad that it has to be this way because forums are a great way to meet others with similar interests and whatnot. Its the identity part that makes things a little tricky.

But then again, you wouldn't open the door at home to a stranger would you? The same applies here. Be careful and happy posting! :)

yeah you all have a good point I guess i'm more worried about those people posting them allready in an open fourm.

You won't have that problem here, because Alex wouldn't allowed it, He even banned one member here who did published someone's home address here at AD. ;)

yeah, our AllDeaf is the merry place to share.. NO gossipping ALLOWED :D

I refuse to exchange home address on AD, also same on PM too.

Yeah, I agree with ya Pacman. I refused to exchange anyone from this AD for my home address or personal address/phone. This internet is not a safe place to give out.... tooo many potatoes.

Same here! Dont want to give out my home addy to people I dont know especially on the Internet. It was a nice idea though...:)

There's no point in making certain features "members only" since anyone can join anytime.

Simply don't say anything that would be used against you in the future.

Of course, some scammers who IM me on Yahoo or MSN and they asked that where I'm from? I asked them that they don't know that where I'm from. I just blocked them, remove my IM from profile, remove location except for nickname of city (such as Windy City) and few information.

Empress made stupid thread about want check on home address, relatives, age and other information but it was removed.

Why don't we just start a thread on this forum where everyone can post their Christmas or holiday wishes to the forum posters. That way we still maintain our privacy and at the same time spread good wishes to our fellow posters.

that already have been done in the past wishing others merry christmas and happy thanksgiving .. also for the birthdays too.. :)

Thats why I posted my office address instead of home address which is more safer so no one knows where I live.
